Are you using positive words?
Take the Lead Edition 20 - Let's wash your mouth out!
What we say leaves a footprint or mind dent, or sometimes a size 8 impression, in my case. Language has such an important part to play. Do you realise that the words you use can undo you?
Thank you to the 5019 people who have joined us on the way. You all know being curious about conversations that count in business makes you unique to me, together we continue to 'Find & Speak'.
Please share this with the lovely people in your network looking to be moved to take action. Sharing really is caring.
The words we use have implications.
Words can lead to misunderstandings.
We need to consider our audience too.
I've found myself, over the years, locked in conversation with many an intelligent mind wrangling over the meaning of life. It wasn't Brian.
Contrary to popular belief the answer is inside us.
Yet that belief has to be held in belief constantly and as humans we're not very good at it so the best I can do is to help with some pointers to fill in the gaps so you don't swear in the meantime.
I don't want to 'wash your mouth out!'
Who's Nan used to say that?!
Anyway, one word I know from experience to stop using it TRYING.
It came into my consciousness through working with Rob Begg. He's a past guest on my show and I knew I'd met someone important in that 'you know when you know' way. Not weird simply meant to be.
Now Rob, to share what he showed me, took me on an exercise to prove that trying doesn't work. Trying doesn't create any movement or change. It just is.
Which in turn means you don't make any progress either.
To attempt something doesn't mean you will adopt attempting every time until you succeed.
I'll let you get in touch with Rob to get him to explain it better than me because it's a visual exercise that sticks.
Here's a list of ways to declutter your mind. See how positive the words are...
What other words would you care to share that you use that you notice should be replaced? Like 'try'.
It also showed me that what I was teaching was not necessarily what I was practicing myself. There I said it.
Funny how that happens to the best of us and we can get off track. Well, it takes support and a gentle reminder from someone we trust to get us back where we need to be.
Which is why I feel more empowered to be working with people who seriously want to be better themselves first to go on and excel in business.
This brings me nicely to our business conversation with this week. It is with expert coach, Blaine Oelkers who teaches the WYTAYBA philosophy. He's also trademarked the title 'Chief Results Officer' which I love!

What is this WYTAYBA philosophy?
Well, it stands for What You Think About You Bring About.
Personally, I took a lot away from his Mind Wash exercise which also gave me the inspiration for this week's newsletter title.
Here's the bullet points of what you'll learn:
"I like to tell people who are stuck with a lot of head trash that the solution to pollution is dilution...."

2yexcellent choice of words to develop a pet dislike for Wendy Harris. I'm a believer in choosing a path, making a commitment and seeing it through. So to 'try' doesn't fit in as you start off already second guessing yourself.
