Young People In Bristol 🌟 🌱
Who Are Grassroot Communities, And What Is GAP?
Bristol is a city known for its vibrant arts and culture scene, but for many young people living here, access to opportunities and resources can be limited. Grassroot Communities and its Grassroot Activators Program (GAP) is a nonprofit organisation working in the city, primarily south Bristol and now across the city with GAP. We are working to change this by providing young people with the tools and support they need to thrive. We want to share with you the impact that GAP and Grassroot Communities have had on the lives of young people in everyday communities in Bristol.
What Are GAP Students Doing?
The Grassroots Activators Program is flying! The young people participating have had news of their fantastic success this week.
Young GAP legend Soloman showed up to the programme this week with a grin from ear to ear. He then told me he had been offered a job in the NovaHotel kitchens, where he has done his GAP work placement. His passion for becoming a chef is really on track 👩 🍳
Another of our young people doing GAP is Racaine; he has been accepted into the RAF. Theo has been accepted at Uni to study psychology, Leigha has been offered a job and level 2/3 training as a youth worker. 😊
The other GAP young leader's stories are all equally as unique and amazing.
We are just coming up to the midpoint of GAP, and the outcomes for young people are already tremendous. Each young person has a different story to tell, and we cannot wait to share them.
Youth Work In The Community
Our amazing Grassroot Community detached youth work teams are out in all weather around south Bristol engaging with young people and the wider community. From Hartcliffe to Hengrove to our Growing Street Together nights in Victoria Park.
What Really Matters Podcast
Young legend Martin Mendy talks about moving to the UK from Gambia as a child, the challenges he has overcome, the power of creativity and his experience of the Grassroot Activators Programme (GAP) so far ❤️

What Our Sponsors Say:
"Sponsoring a young person through Grassroot Communities has been an eye-opening and incredibly fulfilling experience. The commitment and achievement of the mentors, including Ben and Judit, are beyond words.
As a result of the sponsorship, I received a message from Abbey, the young person I support, saying "I am loving my placement; it has helped me so much, I couldn't be more grateful". You can't get better than seeing that. The reality is she did everything; she just needed a bit of help getting there.
I highly recommend sponsoring a young person and Grassroot Communities to others considering supporting this cause. It has been great to share the progress with my business, which supports sponsoring again this year. There was nothing I would change about the experience or the sponsorship process."

Get Involved!
We are currently seeking funding for the next cohort of young people set to begin in September 2023. Without investment from local businesses, Grassroot Communities will not be able to fully fund the project.
GAP, the program at the heart of Grassroot Communities, relies on sponsorship from local organisations to provide opportunities for young people and make a positive impact on the community.
Without this support, the program will not be able to run in September 2023.
If you'd like to get involved give me a shout!
