Ambassadors of Fox Chase Cancer Center

The Friends of Fox Chase will host their next cash bingo fundraiser on Saturday, April 12th at St. Cecilia School Gym! Tickets are $35 in advance and are available now at https://lnkd.in/djKqMm_2 All proceeds from the bingo benefit patient comfort and care here at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

The Fox Chase community is sharing the love this Valentine’s Day with this heartwarming story! Eight year old Logan Dougherty’s mom, Alicia Dougherty, has been a nurse at Fox Chase for nearly twelve years, and her passion for her patients is clearly rubbing off on her son. Prior to Covid, Logan loved handing out candy canes to patients at Fox Chase around the holidays, and this year, while filling up Valentines Day bags with his classmates, Logan asked if he could make some for Fox Chase patients too. Inspired by their shared passion for patient care, the mother and son team recruited some friends, including three more Fox Chase employees, Caitlin Fanning, Kerri Kelly, and Katie Pierson, and all their kids, Annie, Avery, Jude, Riley, Avery, Dylan, Andy and Elsie, and got to work making goodie bags! These included Valentines cards signed by the kids, chocolates, sweets, and a whole lot of heart. When asked what made him think of doing this project, Logan said “I liked making the patients happy with the candy canes for Christmas. I wish we could keep doing it. They might be sad because they’re in the hospital and not home with their families. Maybe getting Valentines will make them happy, too.” The Fox Chase Cancer Center community is full of loving, caring people, young and old, and we want to celebrate and thank all of you this Valentine’s Day!

The holidays are a time for gratitude, but we are grateful year round for the continued support of Philly Kicking Cancer who recently donated $30,000 to Fox Chase Cancer Center! Over the years, this amazing group has donated more then $500,000 to cancer research at Fox Chase! Earlier this month the Kicking Cancer team joined us at the hospital to celebrate their gift, and they even brought Santa to hand out more then 140 candy canes across the Center! THANK YOU Kicking Cancer, for all you do to support cancer research at Fox Chase.

Thank you to the New Hope Police Department for organizing the No Shave November fundraiser to support prostate cancer research here at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Community support like this moves us closer in our mission of prevailing over cancer!

The Friends of Fox Chase is an employee members supported chapter of the Board of Associates that supports patient comfort and care. Ice cream is available from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM in the Fox Chase cafeteria. Cash and card payments accepted.

The Board of Associates presented their annual donation of $423,540.67 to Cancer Center Director, Dr. Jonathan Chernoff last week. This generous donation was the result of the hard work and dedication of the BOA's three chapters, Bucks County, Friends and Marlyn Fein, as well as the Executive Committee, led by President Barbara O'Donnell, and is a testament to the importance of volunteers! Ceramicist Sarah Brett recently presented her gift of $4,800 to Dr. Sanjay Reddy for the Marvin and Concetta Greenberg Pancreatic Cancer Institute at Fox Chase Cancer Center in honor of her dad, James Brett. Sarah hosted the Handle with Care art show in April, auctioning off one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by her late fathers love of cars, and donated 100% of the proceeds to cancer research here at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
