As I read this incredibly thought-provoking and well-written article, it struck me that the value of exposure to supported non-clinical placements could also benefit those even earlier in their journey to a career in #healthcare. Building #leadership skills, developing #resilience, engaging in #collaborative #multidisciplinary teams at early opportunities will play a significant role in developing the healthcare workforce of the future #TLevels

We need to promote the value of these placements. We still have a way to go to challenge the status quo of traditional clinical placements being superior to the non-clinical experiences that skill our future workforce across the four pillars of practice.

📢 Great opportunity for African scholars working on healthcare leadership BMJ Leader Special Interest Group on Africa is undertaking concerted efforts to address global research disparities. ❓ Why? Because elevating the voices of marginalised groups and majority world scholars is not only a way to promote social justice — it is also a way to harness crucial healthcare leadership insights that are globally applicable but lack opportunities to be heard. The journal invites submissions from scholars in Africa and the African diaspora: ➡️ On topics including, but not limited to: leadership challenges, education for healthcare leadership, health equity leadership, planetary health leadership, digital health leadership, the intersection of politics and healthcare, kindness, and kinship in healthcare, and value in leadership. ➡️ Type of contributions may include empirical research, (systematic) literature reviews, best practices and personal experiences in healthcare leadership. A great read for our profession. These placements are so valuable in the development of our future colleagues, to understand governance, operational management, risk, finance, people management and leadership. I am a huge fan! I've always tried to expose students to these functions whilst on clinical placement, so that they at least have an awareness. Well done for highlighting this!
