Consul General Brian Cahalane was delighted to be back in Indianapolis for a quick but productive trip this past weekend. Part of the Consulate's portfolio of work is to engage and connect with political partners throughout the Midwest, so it was a great opportunity to be in attendance at the inauguration of Governor Mike Braun. The trip also included a productive meeting with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to discuss continuing the momentum in connecting Indiana and Irish economic stakeholders across sectors. With special thanks to Andrea Richter-Garry, Sophie L., Ann Lathrop, and Kevin Charles Murray. Consul General Cahalane was also delighted to connect with the local Indy GAA committee. Fantastic to see such an important facet of Irish culture being shared across the pitches of the Hoosier state! All of these connections speak to the positive relationship the State of Indiana and Ireland share together and we look forward to the launch of the new direct Aer Lingus flight between Indianapolis and Dublin in May 2025.

Consul General Brian Cahalane had the opportunity to visit Detroit, Michigan for the first time since taking up his post this past September. It was great to meet with the many members of Detroit's legal community at the Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers' annual Christmas gathering and community partners from the Irish Network Detroit. Last week, Consul General Brian Cahalane attended the 2nd International Business Forum organised by Illinois State Representative John Cabello and the Loves Park Chamber of Commerce Holiday Party. Ireland and Illinois share a vibrant and mutually beneficial economic relationship, with Ireland representing the seventh largest source of foreign direct investment into the US.
