  • ✨ Friday vibe #5 ✨ When fleeing from conflict or persecution, the last thing anyone should worry about is losing essential documents like birth certificates. Yet, for millions of refugees worldwide, this is a harsh reality that adds to the already daunting challenges they face. Imagine a world where refugees no longer need to carry physical documents but instead have secure, tamper-proof digital identities stored on a decentralised network. With decentralized identity, refugees can access vital services, such as healthcare, education, and financial assistance, with just a few clicks on their smartphones. The benefits are profound: 🆔 Preserve Identity: Safeguard crucial documents and personal information against loss, theft, or damage. 🌍 Access Essential Services: Seamlessly access healthcare, education, and humanitarian aid without cumbersome paperwork. 🗽 Maintain Dignity: Retain control and autonomy over their identities, empowering individuals to assert their rights and agency. In these turbulent times, decentralised identity is not just a technological innovation; it's a lifeline for refugees seeking safety and stability. Let's continue to advocate for solutions that prioritize inclusivity, dignity, and human rights for all. Marel #elevatinglives

  • ✨ Good vibe Friday #4 ✨ What do a 3D printer 🖨 and a fish 🐠 have in common? ➡ They can both treat wounds! 👇 You probably already knew about skin fish use as grafts for severe burns. More recently Wake Forest University in North Carolina, USA, bio printed human skin by engineering skin cells to be used as ink for a 3D printer. Though it was only tested in mice and pigs, this near-perfect replica of human skin helped regenerate flesh for the most severe wounds. If the research proves to be right, it could become the most effective method and help people to recover faster from severe burns. At Marel, we love to share news about technology #enhancinglives. • ✨ Good vibe Friday #3 ✨ Good news: The future of food is not necessarily insects 🐛 and lab-grown meat 👩🔬 ! Have you heard about regenerative agriculture? Central to regenerative agriculture is the concept of soil health. Goals of regenerative agriculture 🎯 Produce enough nutritious food for the world’s population  🎯 Help mitigate climate change by sequestering carbon in soil and reducing greenhouse gas emissions  🎯 Restore threatened biodiversity and enhance natural habitats  🎯 Prevent further deforestation and grassland conversion by increasing productivity on existing farmland  🎯 Enhance farmer livelihoods. To accomplish this goal, we can count on the wisdom of indigenous communities and our elders, integrating their expertise with technology to assess soil health and develop tailored strategies for various soil types. What can you do at your own scale:  👩🌾 Buy from local farmers ideally organic as much as possible  🤓 Gain insight into your body's functioning; we're all unique, and unlocking the secrets of your own system will empower you to manage cravings and naturally improve your diet. 🗣 Spread the word! Did you attend 4YFN last month in Barcelona? 💶 At the startup event of #MWC2024, we organised a panel to speak about the equity-free funding opportunities that we have at #NGISargasso for Internet innovators to build a more human-centric Internet. 🌊 Our partners Teresa Barber Aparici and Virginia Gómez Oñate, from Mobile World Capital Barcelona and Sploro, explained how we are fostering the Transatlantic cooperation for #NextGenerationInternet technologies. They also presented our open call requirements and perks of our OnCampus Program for our selected beneficiaries, including up to €100,000 equity-free funding. 💡 We were very lucky to have as guests speakers Monique Calisti, NGI Outreach Office Director from Martel Innovate, and three of our first open call innovators who talked about their projects: Jordi Mongay Batalla from EvORAN, Lluís Alfons A. from EBSI-CAN, and Julien Bringer from D3ICA (Marel). • The European Union's (EU) recent adoption of eIDAS 2.0, with its core feature - the European Digital Identity Wallet (see video ⬇ ) - is undoubtedly a step towards streamlined access to online services. It’s potential to empower individuals with control over their digital identity is undeniable: 🏄♀️ Convenience: The EUDIW simplifies access to online services, acting as a single point of access for storing and sharing essential identification credentials, eliminating the need for multiple logins and passwords. 🔐 Security: eIDAS 2.0 sets stricter security standards, enhancing the overall trustworthiness of digital transactions. 🚦 User Control: Individuals have greater control over their digital identity by deciding which information to share with different service providers, promoting data privacy. 🛫 Cross-border Recognition: The EUDIW paves the way for seamless interaction across member states, fostering collaboration and economic opportunities. To ensure the EUDIW reaches its full potential, inclusivity must remain a key focus. Proactive measures need to be taken to bridge the digital divide by providing alternative access methods and promoting digital literacy initiatives. This will guarantee the EUDIW's accessibility for all, regardless of technical expertise, fostering a truly secure and inclusive digital identity landscape. Here's where Marel (previously D3ICA) can play a crucial role. #eidas2 #eudiwallet #digitaleu #digitalidentity #elevatinglivessecuringconnections

📲 Now that the EUDI framework has been approved, all eyes are turning to the implementation process. In preparation for the rollout of the European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallets in 2026, three elements will be critical drivers for success: 1. 📝Development of implementing acts with detailed technical rules on how best to implement the basic legal act, 2. 🧬Publishing of the updated Architecture and Reference Framework (ARF) with specifications for an interoperable EUDI Wallet, 3. 🧪Continuation of Large Scale Pilots to address high-priority use-cases for the Wallet + reference implementation. In parallel to this technical work, to ensure a smooth transition, trust and broad uptake, the European Commission and the Member States must also engage with citizens and educate them on the possibilities ahead through workshops and media campaigns. The importance of these activities should not be underestimated. The video below helps us get a taste of what is soon going to become a reality! ⤵️ Stay tuned for more updates as we work towards a successful EUDI implementation! #eidas #eidas2 #eudiwallet #digitaleu #digitalidentity
