🌍 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗚𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗻?! 🌍 Glenn has recently been on-site in Wiltshire, commissioning a new Drax Technology AMX system with some impressive tech! This system includes 27 Drax 4-input SMaRT Watch modules and Teltonika RUT241 routers for streamlined monitoring. Each SMaRT Watch module tracks fire and fault signals from fire alarm systems and keeps a close watch on local Drax PSUs for any fault conditions. Given the high-security nature of this site, the team had to think outside the box – instead of using the existing IT network, all communications are secured over 4G through a private VPN. With the new system, any triggered fire alarm flashes red on the AMX graphic, pinpointing the exact building for quick identification. For a site this large, where end users may not be familiar with the layout, this feature is essential for locating and responding to events swiftly. If your site could benefit from a graphical head-end fire alarm system with secure, independent network access, we’re here to help. Changes to LFB Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) Response Policy Is Now In Effect! 🚨 From 1st October 2024, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) has implemented a significant policy change: they will no longer respond to automatic fire alarms (AFAs) in most commercial buildings during the day (7 AM - 8:30 PM) unless there’s confirmation of a fire. This shift is aimed at reducing the high volume of false alarms, which accounted for 40% of all incidents attended in 2023/24—an overwhelming 52,000 calls! Less than 1% of these were actual fires. Why this matters: False alarms not only divert resources from real emergencies but also risk public safety by creating complacency. LFB's new approach helps ensure firefighters can focus on genuine crises and public safety, reducing unnecessary high-speed responses in London's congested streets. However, not all buildings are affected by this policy. Exemptions include schools, residential buildings, hospitals, and heritage sites, to name a few. If you’re a Responsible Person for a commercial property, it’s crucial to check if your building is affected and take action to stay compliant. Here’s what you need to do: - Confirm fires before calling 999 when an alarm is triggered during daytime hours. - Update your fire risk assessments to ensure your systems are compliant with this change. At Drax Technology, we’re committed to helping you navigate this change with smarter, real-time monitoring solutions that allow for quick verification of alarms. Our AMX alarm management tool and SafeVue portal offer precise event tracking, reducing unnecessary disruptions and ensuring compliance. If you haven’t reviewed your fire safety protocols yet, now is the time. Be proactive and ensure your systems are ready for this new era of fire safety. Our blog explains how to stay ahead of these changes and keep your buildings secure: https://lnkd.in/edVMSfq8 #DraxTechnology #SmarterBuildingCompliance #AMX #SafeVue #LFBPolicy

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗚𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗻?!🌍 Last week, Glenn C. returned to a prestigious Russell Group University in Exeter to continue the next phase of a complex, multi-discipline integration. This project spans across several alarm systems, including fire alarms, gas alarms, WC alarms, panic alarms, intruder alarms, flood alarms, plant alarms, and PV alarms – just to name a few! 🚨 These critical alarm events are being routed to 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗠𝗫 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, strategically placed in key command centres and mobile devices across the campus, ensuring real-time control and monitoring from anywhere on-site. With multiple redundancy signalling paths (hard-wired IT networks and dual-sim card routers) built into all AMX and SMaRT Watch devices, we’re ensuring top-level reliability. We're also integrating with external systems like 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗔𝗿𝗰 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲® and 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗻®, further enhancing the university's safety and operational efficiency. 💻🔗 If your organisation needs a seamless solution to monitor various critical alarms and export them to third-party software, we’d love to help!
