  • 🌍 Urgent Public Health Update from DRC 🌍 Since late October 2024, the Panzi health zone in Kwango Province has been grappling with a devastating outbreak, primarily affecting children under five, who account for 53% of cases and 54.8% of deaths. Over 400 cases have been reported, with 145 tragic deaths—a staggering 71% among children under 15. 💡 Initial diagnosis points to severe malaria, with potential co-infections due to malnutrition, low vaccination rates, and food insecurity. 🩺 What is Severe Malaria? A life-threatening complication caused by the Plasmodium falciparum parasite, severe malaria can lead to organ failure, coma, and death—particularly in vulnerable groups like young children in sub-Saharan Africa. The situation underscores the critical need for global attention and coordinated response to address malnutrition, strengthen healthcare systems, and control diseases in vulnerable regions. #Ghsp #onehealth #PublicHealthCrisis #SevereMalaria #DRC #HealthForAll #ChildHealth

  • 🌿 Practical Steps to Reduce Environmental Hazards 🌿 1️⃣ Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Cut down waste by reusing items and recycling whenever possible. This reduces landfill pollution and conserves natural resources. ♻️ 2️⃣ Use Eco-friendly Products: Opt for biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning and personal care products to minimize chemical pollution. 🧴 3️⃣ Conserve Water & Energy: Fix leaks, turn off taps, and switch to energy-efficient appliances. Less water and energy use means less strain on our environment. 💧💡 4️⃣ Proper Disposal: Dispose of hazardous materials like batteries, electronics, and chemicals safely to prevent soil and water contamination. 🗑️ 5️⃣Afforestation: Plant more trees and support reforestation projects. Trees act as natural air filters, reduce soil erosion, and provide habitats for wildlife. 🌳 6️⃣ Practice Sanitation & Hygiene: Maintain proper waste disposal and personal hygiene to prevent the spread of diseases and reduce water and soil contamination. 🚰🧼 Small actions add up! Let's protect our environment and create a healthier world for everyone. 🌏 #environmentalHealth #sustainableLiving #Afforestation #sanitationHygiene #GoGreen #OneHealth #getconsortium
