Today, I had the privilege to share my perspective from within the people mobility ecosystem, speaking at the roundtable discussion entitled " Making targets a reality: how to ensure fast deployment of hydrogen refuelling stations?" during European Hydrogen Week.   👉 The Bus and Coach sector is the frontrunner in decarbonization, with the lowest carbon footprint per passenger of any form of motorized transport. But we are living an era marked by significant stress on European industry, primarily caused by the disconnect between regulations and the OEMs ambitions. In just over 5 years, by 2030, zero-emission city buses will have to make up 90% of new registrations and 100% by 2035.   To reach this milestone, it is important to unite all stakeholders. We must work together to unlock the full potential of sustainable transport and capitalize on the new European mandate to build a truly zero-emission future.   We strongly believe in hydrogen as a complementary alternative to battery electric vehicles to achieve the 2030 goals. Today, IVECO BUS, within the context of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) #FUTUREDRIVEN Experience event, organised a high-level panel discussion about the challenges related to the decarbonisation of public transport, particularly in the urban bus segment.   This roundtable, entitled "Accelerating the decarbonisation of public transport: strategies and enabling conditions for reaching 2030 and 2035 objectives", aimed to share IVECO BUS's vision on the energy transition and to highlight the importance of favourable enabling conditions for the competitiveness of the European bus industry.   Domenico Nucera, IVECO BUS President, took this opportunity to share our vision for a sustainable energy transition: “The European bus and coach industry is at a turning point. Although we have made progress in zero-emission technology, heavily investing in our local facilities, we are facing several challenges. To guarantee a zero-emission future “made in Europe”, we need to adopt a multi-pronged approach and above all, closing the cost gap between zero-emission and conventional technologies supporting European industry and creating a level playing field for a competitive and sustainable European future. This transition can only be the result of a collective effort of all stakeholders involved.
