Time for a reality check. We are transitioning from ambitious targets on paper to making them a reality. This shift takes us from a market driven by early adopters to one embracing mass adoption of new technologies. To achieve these goals, we need: 🔹 A shift in consumer confidence and mentality 🔹 Comprehensive charging infrastructure 🔹 Strong market incentives and encouragement The groundwork is there—or at least it should be. We have advocated for robust industrial policies, market stimulation, and enabling conditions. We thank member states for their support of measures to bolster the industry. However, the time has come for concrete action. We urge them to tackle the urgent challenges posed by the 2025 CO2 targets for the automotive sector and prioritise establishing the enabling conditions to support our transition toward zero-emission mobility. The automotive industry is fully committed to driving this transformation, but vehicles are not the bottleneck. The way forward is clear: urgent and strategic action is needed to keep Europe’s transition to cleaner mobility on track. The stakes couldn’t be higher—achieving our climate goals requires a united and determined effort. #COMPET #COMPETCouncil

As Europe’s industrial landscape evolves with digitalisation, sustainability goals, and tech advances, inclusive leadership has never been more crucial. The EU’s Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025 set the stage for action, including the Women on Boards Directive in 2022, mandating 40% women in non-executive board positions at listed companies by 2026. While women’s presence on boards is rising, their numbers as CEOs or board chairs remain stubbornly low—especially in male-dominated sectors like STEM and manufacturing. On Saturday, we teamed up with greenlight for girls to host 50 young minds for an inspiring STEM event! The girls explored #FutureDriven exhibits, got hands-on with experiments, and dived into the world of STEM—powered by the automotive industry.
