The Army is rolling out a new vision for irregular warfare education, as the Army Special Operations Forces implement a " six-year plan to revamp instruction in irregular warfare, technology, and psychological operations". The latest in US Army AI news: the Army is working to build a "trusted environment" where they can test AI algorithms developed by the Army as well as third party platforms. Matt Willis, director of Army prize competitions and the small business innovation research (SBIR) program, says "in the next year or so, we’re predicting a significant investment in our SBIR program towards AI in particular — again, strategically aligned with Project Linchpin, [that’s] potentially up to or more than $150 million". The US Army has altered "procurement quantities and funding projections" for a new #electronic #warfare system, the Terrestrial Layer System-Brigade Combat Team (TLS-BCT). The TLS-BCT is an integrated electronic warfare, signals intelligence, and cyber platform. The Army is prioritizing a manpack version of the system that will allow for jamming, signal direction finding, and signals intelligence.
