About us

The LGBTQ Institute is housed at National Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Center was established in 2007. Its groundbreaking 43,000-square-foot facility in Atlanta, Georgia on Pemberton Place®, was designed to be much more than a museum. It is meant to serve as a “platform for engagement” and source for ongoing dialogue to educate visitors on the bridge between the American Civil Rights Movement and contemporary Human Rights Movements around the world. In addition to the rotating exhibits, The Center also features a broadcast studio, educational forums, institutes, and attracts world-renowned speakers and artists who work on a variety of human rights topics.

  • Was so inspirational to be a host for this celebration of Freedom Summer 1964!

😁 We’re all smiles this Friday as we look back at these incredible photos from “Legacy Lives On: Freedom Summer 60-Year Celebration” hosted at National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta. The event featured AGF board member and Freedom Summer participant Robert Masters, AGF’s HBCU Lead Program Manager Gabrielle Slaughter, AGF Alum Evan M., current Andrew Goodman Ambassador Zoee Andrews (Spelman College), and Freedom Rider Charles Person. Thank you to all who attended and supported this impactful event. 📸Photo credit: Sydney Foster (https://lnkd.in/e7evHkHf).

Still taking in all the lessons and gratitude from a successful LGBTQ+ Symposium last weekend; and the measure of my success is rooted in the ability to empower, inspire, and elevate others. “Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.” -Jack Welch (photography by Presise Hailey)
