Today, on November 24th, we celebrate World Radiosurgery Day. This day also marks the birthday of my grandfather, Professor Lars Leksell, the visionary behind radiosurgery. His pioneering work has transformed the treatment of brain conditions, offering hope to countless patients worldwide. As his granddaughter, I am incredibly proud of his legacy and the impact he continues to have in the medical field. Radiosurgery has come a long way since its inception, and it’s inspiring to see how it evolves, changing lives and improving the quality of life for so many. Leksell Gamma Knife continues to offer hope to individuals with brain metastases and other cancerous and non-cancerous tumours. Additionally, it significantly benefits those suffering from neurological conditions like facial pain and tremor. Let’s take a moment to honor all the healthcare professionals, researchers, and patients who contribute to this remarkable field. Your dedication and innovation keep my grandfather’s vision alive.
