About us
Over the last 20 years, 7,348 natural disasters have been documented by EM-DAT, which amount to 1.23 million lives lost and more than 4 billion others gravely affected. On top of these, such environmental calamities have led to US$ 2.97 trillion in economic damages worldwide. PANTHEON project aspires to take the current state-of-the-art disaster resilience models to the next level by developing tools for evidence-based policy-making, analysis and evaluation of various issues and criteria. The overall goal is to build an improved community disaster resilience by developing a community-based digital ecosystem for Disaster Resilience with the conducive help of Smart City Digital Twin (SCDT) technology. This way, a more accurate estimation of potential disasters and their consequences can be achieved by deeply analysing regional policies, models, and legal/regulatory environments to build the Disaster Risk Management of the future. Subsequently, the built community platform will provide communities with enhanced disaster risk management (CBDRM) thanks to the availability of real-time data, thus improving decision-making efficiency during and after the disasters. The project is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme.

🌍 Excited to share insights about the PANTHEON Project, an ambitious Horizon Europe initiative that kicked off in January 2023 with 17 partners across 9 countries! PANTHEON’s mission is to create a cutting-edge Smart City Digital Twin (SCDT) platform that improves disaster resilience in urban environments, protecting people, the environment as well as the economy. 🎯 Led by TWI Hellas, the project aims to establish an AI-powered, community-based ecosystem to improve disaster risk management and situational awareness. PANTHEON leverages advanced digital twin technology to support policymakers and stakeholders in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from natural disasters. 🛠 ENAC contributions are focused on: ◾ Developing a swarm controller for a fleet of drones to simulate the survey of an area struck by earthquake or by wildfire ◾ Our algorithm can assess how many drones are necessary, and how long it will take, to cover an area with aerial photographs. 📍 Key milestones so far include: ◾ A successful demo showcasing our progress to EU project leads. ◾ End-user requirements gathering sessions for drones, with more collaborative meetings ahead. ◾ Ongoing partnerships with Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and TWI to develop innovative algorithms for zone partitioning and swarm coordination. ◾ Integration efforts with the PANTHEON front end and back end are underway with our partners M3 Systems and SIMAVI Software Imagination & Vision.
