How leading biometric #identityverification vendors are tackling the challenges of #identitytheft, #deepfakes and #identityspoofing? Identity verification as part of doing #KYC and #AML is inevitable. However, this is not that simple due to advanced documents and facial image spoofing techniques. In the future, a lot is going to depend on the brilliance of identity verification vendors particularly those with advanced facial biometric solutions, and how well they can ensure accurate verification and authentication while thwarting any identity spoofing attempts. Verifying and authenticating accurately is not the only task, solution providers also need to ensure strong cyber security measures in place to protect the users' data. Cybersecurity experts are pointing out to the vulnerabilities of these verification systems too. To quote Kimberly Ludington who recently stated in her LinkedIn post, "Biometric authentication factors like facial recognition scans are no longer iron-clad cybersecurity measures. Emerging technology allows hackers to steal face scans and infiltrate a user’s unauthorized accounts." Here are five things in #digitalidentity that I found interesting this week 1/ Prove Appointed to FIDO Alliance Board Prove Identity announced it has been appointed to the FIDO Alliance Board of Directors According to their press release, Timothy Brown, global identity officer at Prove, will serve as the company’s Primary Board Delegate FIDO Alliance is focused reducing the world’s reliance on passwords #passwordless 2/ IDnow: 33% of Brits share sensitive ID documents unprotected online German #identityverification provider IDnow released a #UK Fraud Awareness Report and cited 33% of Brits have shared scans or photos of an ID card, driving license or passport via unsecured digital channels, such as social media or email More interesting stats in the report link below 3/ Tinder Announces ID Verification Is Expanding To Users In US, UK, Brazil & Mexico "The process requires a video selfie and a valid Driver’s License or Passport, and will check to see whether the face in the video selfie matches both the photo on the ID as well as the person’s profile photos" Based on a review of their privacy policy, it appears Tinder is leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) services but not sure if an #idv provider is involved 4/ IDEMIA Public Security Partners with Microsoft for Entra Verified ID This collaboration allows Entra Verified ID users to have their identity verified using IDEMIA's liveness & document verification technology 5/ SheerID Expands IDV Platform with Marketing Hub and DataConnectors to 400+ Martech Solutions SheerID announced the launch of two platform capabilities for customer acquisition and retention: Marketing Hub & DataConnectors "Incomplete solutions, data silos, and cookie deprecation have severely impacted marketers' abilities to build trusted, tight-knit relationships with their customers," said Jake Weatherly, CEO of SheerID And those are this week’s #fridayfive Are you interested in digital identity?
