Last week, GPEM s.r.l. gave Giacomo Gerotto and me the incredible opportunity to travel to the UK for a Virtual Production workshop organized by Vicon. Virtual production is an exciting and rapidly evolving field, offering endless opportunities for research and innovation and, let’s be honest, have a lot of fun along the way. With my technical background, I’m thrilled by the chance to contribute in this space where creativity and technology come together. The amazing Carlos Vilchis , PhD and Gaston Alvarez introduced us to a wide range of topics, including in-camera VFX workflows, photogrammetry, AI-powered facial motion capture, real-time camera tracking, advanced color management, and more. In addition to finally visiting the Vicon offices in Oxford and meeting their talented team, we were lucky enough to get hands-on experience at Epic Games' London Innovation Lab where we could see the technology in action and even recording a shot ourselves. Thanks to Vicon, GPEM, Carlos, Gaston, and the awesome guys from Digicast (UK) Ltd. and ProCare MoCap for the collaboration and the fun moments we shared!

Recently, we had the pleasure of seeing our Vicon motion capture system in action at the Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) as part of the #OASIS project. 😄 The incredibly talented Belgian dancer Pommelien van Hees, known for her intricate micro-movements, performed a captivating dance routine on the BUas Vicon stage. 💃 Her enthusiasm about how the Vicon system flawlessly captured every subtle detail of her movements reinforces why we believe in this industry-leading technology. This collaboration, made possible by the Flemish government’s digital transformation programme for the media sector, brings together expertise from organizations like THE PACK studio, Uncanny, Sputnik Media, DAE Research - Howest University of Applied Sciences, VRT, and of course, Cradle BUas.
