Last week, GPEM s.r.l. gave Giacomo Gerotto and me the incredible opportunity to travel to the UK for a Virtual Production workshop organized by Vicon. Virtual production is an exciting and rapidly evolving field, offering endless opportunities for research and innovation and, let’s be honest, have a lot of fun along the way. With my technical background, I’m thrilled by the chance to contribute in this space where creativity and technology come together. The amazing Carlos Vilchis , PhD and Gaston Alvarez introduced us to a wide range of topics, including in-camera VFX workflows, photogrammetry, AI-powered facial motion capture, real-time camera tracking, advanced color management, and more. In addition to finally visiting the Vicon offices in Oxford and meeting their talented team, we were lucky enough to get hands-on experience at Epic Games' London Innovation Lab where we could see the technology in action and even recording a shot ourselves. Thanks to Vicon, GPEM, Carlos, Gaston, and the awesome guys from Digicast (UK) Ltd. and ProCare MoCap for the collaboration and the fun moments we shared!
