An exciting announcement for carbon capture technology! Shell and alliance partner Technip Energies are poised for another deployment of the CANSOLV CO2 Capture System after Net Zero Teesside (NZT) Power makes the final investment decision (FID). This is the third project of its kind in the past 12 months to achieve FID. The NZT Power project is designed to generate up to 742 megawatts of low-carbon, flexible power and aims to be one of the first commercial-scale gas-fired power stations globally to integrate with carbon capture technology. Shell's proprietary CANSOLV CO2 technology can enable the capture of up to 2 million tonnes of CO2 annually from the plant's combined-cycle gas turbine. The captured CO2 will then be transported and permanently stored below the North Sea by the Northern Endurance Partnership.
