A month ago, I had the privilege of attending ATCE 2024 in New Orleans ⚜️, USA 🇺🇸, where my teammates Abdul-Malik Al-Hashami, Oluwafunto Sofidiya, and I represented Heriot-Watt University in the PetroBowl competition. Although we lost in the quarter-finals against the University of Texas, we made lasting connections, broadened our industry knowledge, and, most importantly, felt proud to have come this far. In conjunction with the competition, we explored the exhibition floor and attended technical sessions. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with industry professionals, reunite with friends and professors from Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering at University of Oklahoma, and learn about the latest cutting-edge technologies and advancements in the ever-evolving oil and gas industry. Beyond the Conference, I also had an amazing time immersing myself in the vibrant Cajun culture of New Orleans, checked San Francisco off my list as the last major American city I wanted to visit, and visited my second home, University of Oklahoma. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Student Chapter - Heriot-Watt University and Petroleum Development Oman for making this extraordinary experience possible. I had the incredible opportunity to attend the ATCE 2024 conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, in The US 🇺🇸, representing Heriot-Watt University in the Petrobowl competition. Our team fought hard and made it to the quarter-finals, but unfortunately, we didn't make it further. Nonetheless, it was an honor to compete alongside my amazing teammates Mohamed Al Balushi and Oluwafunto Sofidiya whose dedication and effort were outstanding. Beyond the competition, I had the chance to explore the exhibition, connect with professionals from the petroleum industry, and learn about the latest technologies and innovations shaping our field. I also had the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of New Orleans! It has been an incredible privilege to lead the Program Committee as the Program Chair for the 100th anniversary of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition 2024 this year. Reflecting on the legacy of past SPE leaders in this role fills me with gratitude and humility. I am thrilled to announce that Sarah Kern will take on the mantle of Program Chair, accompanied by John Howard as Vice Program Chair for ATCE 2025. Their dedication and expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the success of the conference. ⚜️🎉🎭🎺 My first ATCE 2024 was a blast! As a geo let loose in the wilds of the engineering world, I met some brilliant folks, saw some great tech talks, and had deep discussions on #geothermal and #CCS. Monday's SPE Geothermal Technical Section - GTTS reception was a huge success, I was grateful to represent Seequent as one of the sponsors, and as a SPE-GTTS board member. And of course NOLA was incredible!

On the last day of Society of Petroleum Engineers International ATCE 2024, September 25, 2024, we visited exhibitions from oil services companies, including SLB , Halliburton , and Baker Hughes. We gained valuable insights into newly developed fluid technology and strategies for maximizing value from mature fields. I never imagined that a geological engineering student like me, would have the opportunity to attend SPE ATCE 2024 and represent Padjadjaran University SPE Student Chapter, Universitas Padjadjaran , Indonesia, and Asia Pacific at the PetroBowl Championship XXIII in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States of America. This achievement would not have been possible without the support of my family, friends, Prof Ildrem as our faculty advisor and our sponsors IKA GEOLOGI UNPAD, Kahf by ParagonCorp, Universitas Padjadjaran , and Lab Geofisika FTG, who helped us reach this point. I will cherish this memory forever, as it embodies not only the hard work and dedication that brought us here, but also the invaluable lessons learned and the meaningful connections made along the way.
