Don’t miss their session titled "Catalytic Capital: The Future of Climate Infrastructure" on Tuesday, January 28th, from 4:15 to 4:45 PM. During this conversation, they will explore the roles that various types of capital play in financing First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) projects and discuss how catalytic capital can support and accelerate the development of breakthrough technologies. We hope to see you there! #CleantechForumNorthAmerica
I'm looking forward to doing a fireside chat with my friend Lara Pierpoint at Cleantech Group's Cleantech Forum North America being in San Diego next Tuesday, right on the heels of AtmosZero being named to the 2025 Global Cleantech 100! We'll be talking about how we are scaling and diversifying our capital stack as we grow towards being a gigawatt-scale heat pump manufacturer and how different forms of capital play different roles critical roles for all scaling hardware companies. If you'll be in San Diego shoot me a note so we can talk steam! more details here: https://lnkd.in/g4FGMgZX

We were honored to host a two-part panel at the Trellis Group's VERGE 2024 this fall, entitled, “Achieving Speed and Scale: Financial Tools for Catalyzing FOAK Climate Projects.” The sessions explored solutions to the commercialization gap, with insights from startup leaders, corporates, and catalytic capital experts. The conversations included insights from panelists Shreya Dave of Via Separations, Uuganbayar (Ugi) Otgonbaatar, Ph.D. of Constellation, Christian Okoye of Generate, Etosha (Eee-tah-sha) Cave from Twelve, Courtney Unruh from Alaska Airlines, and our own Managing Director, Lara Pierpoint. 💡 Key takeaways: ➡️ Startups need corporate proofpoints to attract investors and bridge the commercialization gap. ➡️ Infrastructure investors value corporations on a startup's cap table as a sign of confidence. ➡️ Cleantech can learn from pharma—early partnerships often lead to strategic acquisitions, providing essential exit strategies. ➡️ Sometimes the biggest boost isn’t investment—offtake agreements and partnerships can make all the difference. 👏 Thank you to our incredible speakers for sharing their expertise and lessons for scaling climate solutions! First-of-its-kind innovation takes center stage on the latest episode of The Green Blueprint! Our Managing Director, Lara Pierpoint, sits down with John O'Donnell, CEO of Rondo Energy, to unpack the challenges and breakthroughs of scaling first-of-a-kind technology in industrial decarbonization. Discover how electrifying industrial heat and leveraging renewable energy are paving the way for transformative change. #ClimateTech #ClimateFinance #FirstOfAKind #FOAK
The latest episode of The Green Blueprint with Lara Pierpoint features John O'Donnell of Rondo Energy — a must-listen for anyone interested in industrial decarbonization, scaling clean tech, and the real challenges of commercializing climate solutions. Key insights from John: 🏭 The scale of the opportunity in industrial heat: "A quarter of all the fuel we burn in the world is for industrial heat" 💡 Why timing is right for electrification: "We have now entered this world where...you can have electricity at a lower cost than burning fuel" 🔬 The intersection of simple materials and complex engineering: "These things are really simple, but they could not be designed without modern multiphysics simulations of exactly how does all the gas and heat transfer work" 🏗️ The philosophy behind scaling hardware: "Being conservative so that anything that we had not anticipated, there's a very large safety factor, is part of the current design philosophy" ⚡ The bigger picture for renewable energy: "What we are doing is opening a completely new market for renewables where we're going to build utility-scale generation" The episode offers invaluable lessons on: • Scaling hardware • Working with industrial customers • The importance of getting the details right when deploying first-of-kind technology Listen now wherever you get your podcasts: https://lnkd.in/eEFfQTEN

Scaling a first-of-a-kind technology is a high-stakes leap! On this episode of The Green Blueprint podcast, our Managing Director, Lara Pierpoint talks with Via Separations’ CEO, Shreya Dave, about their decision to scale their innovative membrane technology 100x—a step forward in industrial energy efficiency. Tune in now! #ClimateTech #FOAK #FirstOfAKind
When Via Separations faced two paths — scale up 10x or 100x — CEO and co-founder Shreya Dave decided to go big. In 2022, the company was getting ready to build its first commercial-scale filtration system, replacing energy-intensive industrial evaporation at the paper mill with a first-of-a-kind membrane they had spent years at MIT developing. Scaling up 100x would prove their technology was viable for broader commercial applications — if they could overcome the challenges.
