Name a more iconic duo than fries + ketchup… how about nuggets + WhatsApp? At least that’s what quick service restaurants in the US are discovering. Fast food restaurants have long relied on Meta’s advertising solutions globally. And, in cities from Singapore to Sao Paulo, WhatsApp has always been on the menu. Recently, more quick service restaurants are seeing value in connecting with customers on WhatsApp in the US. As a The Wendy's Company executive explained, it’s a strategy “rooted in listening to our consumers and showing up authentically in the spaces they take an active part in”. And for many of those consumers, that space is right in a WhatsApp chat. Meta recently hosted a Restaurant Summit, bringing together brands from across the industry to learn about how they can grow their business by leveraging WhatsApp and Meta’s full suite of solutions. Our very own Nikila Srinivasan took the stage at #AdvertisingWeek with Shirli Zelcer (Chief Data & Technology Officer, dentsu) to discuss how AI and business messaging are being leveraged by marketers for everything from improving customers interactions to driving performance through ad creative.
AdWeek + WhatsApp! This was my first time addressing a room of performance marketers and CMOs on behalf of WhatsApp Business. Performance marketers don't often think of messaging as a channel for their growth, but they really should! 80% of online adults message a business at least once a week; and Meta’s business messaging has much better click through and open rates than legacy ones like SMS or email with an average open rate of 71% (as opposed to SMS at 45% and email at 41%) It’s clear that messaging can deliver better, optimized results, and we’re doing it in innovative ways like incorporating generative AI. I was joined onstage by Shirli Zelcer (Chief Data & Technology Officer, Dentsu) to dig into how Dentsu is leveraging AI to create more relevant, richer customer experiences and optimized campaign targeting for their clients. A few key takeaways from our chat: - AI is top of mind for advertisers, it’s time to get smart. At Meta, we offer a range of solutions from creative tools like Advantage+ Creative GenAI to optimized business messaging. It’s time to figure out what works best for your business and start testing! - Look to your partners. Dentsu and Meta have a longstanding partnership which has allowed for Dentsu to test our AI products early and often. That’s translated into an ability to deploy solutions like Meta's Advantage Shopping Plus suite to deliver campaigns at scale, with sustained performance, and greater efficiency. - AI is not for everything! With AI solutions, we’re able to superpower tools for advertisers, but ultimately it’s important to be thoughtful and judicious about when to deploy it. - Don’t sleep on messaging. As a WhatsApp Solutions Partner, Dentsu sees the value in business messaging and counsels their clients to adopt messaging as a way to engage with customers, deepen relationships, and drive sales. With Meta’s introduction of marketing messages with optimization, we’re using AI to superpower an already highly performant solution. It was an honor to participate in this #AWNY session, and I can’t wait to continue proving that business messaging has a place in this and all other advertiser conversations.
