From the dusty streets of Ramakrishnapuram to international cricketing glory, R. Ashwin’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. A boy who once played gully cricket in Chennai, organising tournaments with his childhood friends, grew into a legend who mesmerised the world with his off-spin magic. Starting as a medium pacer, an injury turned him to off-spin—a change that would redefine his life and Indian cricket forever. Ashwin’s career wasn’t just about stats but about grit, curiosity, and relentless competition. Whether it was his famous run-out of Jos Buttler or his unyielding spirit in the face of criticism, Ashwin always played the game his way, never shying away from the challenges thrown at him. At 38, as he bids farewell to international cricket, we celebrate not just the countless wickets and match-winning spells but the life lessons he’s shared—on and off the field. His legacy is etched in cricketing lore, inspiring generations to embrace competition, face opinions head-on, and find refinement in their journey. Thank you, Ashwin, for the memories, the magic, and the wisdom. The streets may miss their favourite son, but the cricketing world will never forget you. 🏏🌟 Read more: https://lnkd.in/d9WgNAnG #ThankYouAshwin #CricketLegend #EndOfAnEra
