Notre Dame and Penn State are about to write a new chapter in their long-standing rivalry, and what better place to do it than the 2025 Orange Bowl? The Fighting Irish and the Nittany Lions have met 19 times in their history, but this will be the first time they do so for a ticket to the NCAA National Championship.

The 90th edition of the Orange Bowl will be played on January 9. For most of its history, this traditional game was played on January 1; however, since its inclusion in the BCS, it began to be played on December 31. With the new 12-team CFP format, the Orange Bowl changed its date again, to the second Thursday in January.
