Tory MP Michael Fabricant has finally admitted some of his trademark blond hair is “enhanced”.
The MP for Lichfield, who was sacked as a Conservative whip last month after celebrating the resignation of Maria Miller, the then Culture Secretary, over her expenses claims, hinted at a secret behind his impressive bright yellow crop.
The 63-year-old, who also upset Tory whips over his strong opposition to the HS2 rail link, insists that he does not wear a wig.
“It’s a lot more complicated than that,” he said.
But pressed for details, he added: “OK, all I will admit to is that there is some — but only some — enhancement of the follicular area.”
He refused to say whether the “enhancement” had applied to the middle or sides of his scalp, or all over.
He also denied suggestions his youthful-looking skin had also benefited from specialist treatment.
“I don’t Botox, I haven’t had any facelifts. I do use a moisturiser. But I’ve had no surgery,” he said.
