There was a twist on Coronation Street on Friday, as Ken Barlow was in danger once more - with hints he could be killed off.
The soap legend, who has been on the ITV soap for 64 years, was rushed to hospital this week after being poisoned by his carer Cassie Plummer. Viewers had seen her crush a pill, thought to be either a pain killer or a blood thinner, and put it in his tea.
She took action after he sacked her as his carer, but she ended up leaving him in a bad way. In the fallout she feigned ignorance claiming not to have done anything wrong, telling Ken's family she was always careful with his medication.
But in a twist on Friday Cassie got away with her actions, and one poor soap favourite got the blame. Tracy Barlow was framed for Ken's apparent medication mix-up, that led to his hospital stint.
Steve McDonald was told by Toyah Battersby that Tracy had actually dropped Ken's pill box on the floor, containing his medication with it seemingly separated by day. Tracy was said to have put the pills back in the wrong way, and this was believed to have caused his 'poisoning'.
While Tracy is of course innocent, Ken assumed that Cassie had not drugged him after all and that it was Tracy by accident. Steve suggested that with the pills put back incorrectly, Ken was likely given too many.
With that, Ken screamed at Tracy and called her some pretty horrible names before telling her to leave. Tracy believed she had done wrong too, not realising it was Cassie who had drugged her father.
Tracy fled in tears as Ken slammed his daughter saying he didn't want to see her. With that he invited Cassie to work for him again, and even offered her a pay increase.
He was apologetic over what he believed to be a misunderstanding, thinking Cassie was innocent. Cassie was thrilled to have gotten away with her actions, and it soon became apparent she was going to target Ken once more.
Elderly Ken could now be in serious danger, but with Cassie after his money will she end up killing him? After his recent hospital dash, will she go too far? Viewers saw the character looking up tablets that "make you drowsy" online, with her clearly preparing to drug him once again - but will it lead to a tragic end for Ken?
