Waste land
Start with a flat brown just to give the look of soil and leave to dry. In fact at this point I put the whole thing to one side and left it to dry out completely.
After a couple of days it’s time to start weathering the base and for this I am starting with oil paints.
First of all I loosely mixed some Sepia, Brunt Umber, Winsor Blue and a touch of black and paint this straight on to road and roof.
Once I had painted it all, it’s left for a while to let the oils stain the paint underneath (the longer you leave it the more it will stain so it’s down to how dark you want it). Now remove the oil paint by using a piece of old cotton i.e. old t-shirt to wipe the paint off by rubbing, just go in one direction and you should end up with a dirty looking surface.
For the walls I did as above but I only used Brunt Umber oil paint.
