5-Star Hotels in Penang, Malaysia

I am 100% okay with the hotel. However the lady that’s attending the transportation counter is a liar. I requested an innova to fit my family and our luggages. She said yes, took our payment and came with an aruz. Which we can book by grab at a fraction of the price. Currently in the car w her and fuming w anger. My parents had to take a separate cab. If we knew we would’ve just booked 2 grabs! She is charging rm 85 for an aruz when in grab its just rm 40. So please do not use her services! What a liar. Say got Innova but come w an Aruz. Ridiculous

Had an amazing & wonderful trip with my beloved husband. Its a special.treat for his birthday. Thank you Parkroyal Penang for the extraordinary hospitality with complimentary room upgraded to the Lanai Suite and delicious birthday cake. My husband really enjoyed his birthday treat. We just love everything about your resort. Everything nearby and walking distance. Your food is really good . We dine in at Cinnamon and Gustoso food is delicious. Kudos to chef and services staff too. Talking about cleanliness wow my room.is top notch clean with comfortable bed and lovely view. Really love everything about Parkroyal Penang ! Last but not least the STAFF itself who play very important role for the hotel. Even the hotel is full house they never fail to smile , chit chat and serving an excellent services to the guest They all very warm.n friendly 💐💐💐💕💕💕 Big thank you to.all.of them and tgey deserve to be rewarded accordingly ! Thank you very much for the best.memories and ee will be back 😘❤️💐

Such a splendid short getaway for us, especially for the kids. We’ve got upgraded and really thankful to hotel for that. The breakfast spread as others said are really amazing and the room has top notch cleaning details. Despite of the location is quite far from the airport, but we would consider to come back here again!

Angsana offers an escape from the congested hotels in Penang. While it takes time to get to the city, Angsana offers a quiet and safe environment to chill. Service at the hotel can be improved. Breakfast is good with a wide selection. It is packed at peak hours and one has to come early to enjoy the wide range of western, Indian, Malay and Chinese cuisines. Staff is very friendly and helpful. It worth a stay in the resort.

My elderly parents stayed at The Gurney during their medical checkup in Penang and accidentally left behind some documents. We emailed the hotel and left a message through booking.com to no avail. Then through a phone call, we got connected to Danesh at the Concierge Department, who then went the extra mile to coordinate among various departments within the hotel, and mailed the document through express courier service. His attentive service is highly appreciated.

It was great. Very good location. My kids had great fun. The swimming pools and the beach were amazing. Sea sports activities all along the beach was a blast. Ride the jet ski and parasailing. The kids loved the place and activities available. They needed to be persuaded to go home. 🤣😅

Room very spacious with 2 super King size bed that sleep 4 person. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom also very spacious with 1 standing shower and a bathtub. Can draw up the blind and enjoy outside view while soaking in the bathtub. Every unit has a small little pool for you to soak and at the same time enjoyed the sea or mountain view depending on unit facing direction. TV attached 2 small speaker that provide better audio for listening to music. TV has multiple and international channel for selection. It also have internet radio and video on demand (but most are old movies). Some negative point. Breakfast especially on weekend either go very early 6.30am or after 9.00am else face a long q for a table. Next need some improvement on air con compressor which I think is mounted at toilet area. It generated noise which can be rather irating especially late at night.

This was our 1st time at Amari Spice but from the on set was a bad experience. Driving into the hotel I could not drive to the lobby entrance to drop my family & luggage as it was blocked for some reason best known to Amari. Security at the entrance was of no help & I ended up blocking the way of a car at the back. What was supposed to be destress trip, started off on bad note. Anyway cursing Amari Spice for being worst than a 1 star hotel, I reversed back into the lobby entrance. Told this bad experience while checking in to the front office staff but they were not bothered  Going to the room found the mattress to be too soft sinking when you lay down & the air cond temp tops up at 26.5 degress, not everyone likes the room super cold. These 2 shortcomings are something that you wld not find in a 4 or 5 star hotels but looks like Amari is still figuring out where they stand. Even many 3 star hotels are better. Moving to the shower both rain & hand shower water flow was dispointing at best with temperature regulation being a challenge. Since my home is at Bukit Jambu & the main reason of chosing Amari was to destress, which was not possible with the said room conditions, I had to leave my family both nights to head home to rest. The matteress, shower & air cond at home the best. Wondering how Amari claims to be home away from home. On a good note the staff were courteous & friendly. Inclosing would I stay at Amari Spice again. NO.

When we returned, a misunderstanding ensured. Cos of my earlier encounter, I was just unreasonable. But thank goodness for Suhaila (I think) and her manager - they deescalated the situation with grace and aplomb. That bump aside, I had a lovely time. Was in room 213. Initially I was worried because I have read about noise issues coming from the club next door. But either the club was closed or the soundproofing worked, there were no disturbances. We slept like babies. The room was beautiful, and the location is amazing. This hotel is highly Recommended. Just don’t bother to pay extra for the breakfast. That was just too sad. We tried it on our last day in the hotel as we were leaving early for the airport. It was dismal.

I booked The Light after hearing the reviews from my colleagues but the service was quite a let down. I booked a deluxe king room but they gave me a double twin room and told me it was subjected to availability? They changed the room for me at last and the room was clean and the breakfast was very nice! *Gym closes at 10pm, swimming pool closes at 7pm

I had a fantastic experience at Penang Marriott Hotel. The staff were warm and professional, making check-in seamless. The room was spacious, spotless, and offered stunning sea views, with a bed so comfortable it guaranteed restful nights. The team’s attention to detail and exceptional service truly elevated my stay. Highly recommended!

We had a pleasant three-day stay at this hotel. The hotel is in an excellent location, situated between two large malls with plenty of shops and restaurants and within a reasonable cab ride to both George Town and Batu Ferringhi. The room was quite spacious but a little bit dated and worn down. It could use a refresh. The bed was very comfortable, however, and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. We enjoyed using the beautiful infinity pool. Service was friendly and efficient. One area that could use improvement is the breakfast. Although there is a good variety of items offered, many just weren't very tasty. The best thing on the buffet was the homemade ice cream. Overall, this is a good place to stay when exploring the island of Penang.

I mean yes it is 30mins from the main town of the Penang, but look at the view. Every morning we open the window and saw the pine trees the beach the sunshine and the sea it feel like a kind of new born. People are friendly and kind，always willing to help. Having time staying in the Lone Pine should be one of my best memories in Penang, can't wait to visit there next year's holiday!

Fast check in. Deluxe room is spacious, clean and with comfortable bed. 5-min walk to gurney plaza on the left and gurney paragon on the right. Easy to move around by grab. Staff is friendly and helpful. Really like the welcome ice cream and happy with stay. Will return.

The hotel room and bed were clean and comfortable. Crews were always friendly and helpful. If you want to stay near the beach, Batu Ferringhi, Hard Rock Hotel is a good choice. Suitable for couples and family with kids as well.

We had a relaxing and memorable stay at E&O. Our room offers a sea view which is great and feel peaceful. Although the hotel is a bit old, it’s generally well maintained. Staff are always smiling and willing to help. They provide new towels and bottled water every day. Staff service at the breakfast buffet are excellent. Sunset was beautiful.

A stylish and classy hotel, strategically located near Little India, art area, food museum, all are a few minutes away. The jetty is about a 15 minute walk. However as a solo female traveller, all the adjacent streets are dark and quiet so didn’t feel comfortable walking around after 21:00. Room was cosy and nicely designed, bed was comfortable, and the free mini bar and sweets left in the jar daily was a lovely touch. Breakfast was ok, but the in-room food service was excellent and meals were fantastic. The room also has a water filter, saves buying bottled water. All staff were pleasant and helpful. The views from the rooftop pool are great, albeit the pool is on the smaller size. Enjoyed my three nights and would recommend the hotel.

I paid 150 RMB for high tea today and although the product was creative and a bit fun I left hungry. My main issue however was the service. It appears there was no manager on duty because the staff were messing about on their mobile phones and I had to always ask them for things because they were focussed on chatting and their phones. It wasn’t 5 star at all and having managed hotels the service was actually appalling. I found a bit of plastic in one of the dishes and the staff member just took it from me and threw it in the bin. No acknowledgement. Then I was waiting in the lobby for my cab and I can hear front desk staff laughing and messing about. They were only interested in messing about. I feel cheated by todays experience and I hope they get manager back on duty soon because today it was not being managed at all

Very personal and warmth team.... Amir was very easy going and furnished us with every information that we asked. Housekeeping staff upheld their honesty - we left our usual tips on the bed every morning for the housekeeping staff but they placed the money on the bed side table every day after their cleaning. We salute their integrity and honesty even though the tip was meant for them. The place was clean and location superb. Definitely worth every moment and $$.

The facilities live up to the Shangri-La experience and consistent to Shangri-La Singapore where I frequent. The view is great and link to the beach. However the Rasa Sayang don’t meet my expectations on other area. The place is badly maintained and the equipment is old. The Toliet sink is faulty, drawers are broken. TV is old and the channel all have static which makes you feel like watching TV in 1980s. This place needs a revamp! There was a service break down when we check in but I will not mention it because the recovery from day two is excellent. Sorry to give a bad review cause at this price point for a hotel in Penang, I expected more.
