My wife ( MR & Mrs Humpleby) and I have just returned on 01/12/2024 from the best hotel ( Steigenberger Alcazar) in Shamel Shake/Nabq Bay, this is our second visit to this hotel this year. We have stayed here on four occasions now and it does not disappoint. Also, this is our 34th time holidaying in the location, different hotels all 5-start but this knocks the others out of the park. As we all know the stress of the airport in Egypt is the last thing you need is to arrive at a hotel to start filling in forms/passports and so on. Sorry about the list of information below but I will take you through every step from arriving to the last day of this holiday. 1. As you arrive at any hotel/resort first impressions are always key to any business, this gives you a feeling of trust and calmness if it is set out well. The Steinberger Alcazar has an entrance with water fountains, colour lighting and the entrance to match. The welcoming staff are dressed in uniforms that all match clean and well presented, they are so polite when welcoming you to the hotel. Suitcases taken care of by the hotel staff. They take you through the main entrance past the main fountain again an outstanding feature. Once you enter the main desk area you are shown the setting area, the staff asks you if you would like refreshments which you are presented with tea, fruit juice, or something from the bar as well as cooler towels and the booking staff sort out the forms, that need completing. Depending on your arrival time, i.e. late check-in, the hotel offers you room service, one of the restaurants stays open late, and food is brought to you if you like to eat at the bar area. The options are so nice it takes that first couple of hours of stress away as you get the feeling of calmness and relaxation from when you first walk into this hotel. 2. Taken to your room by golf buggy with your cases, if this is your first time as you are taken through the hotel grounds the driver will show you/talk you through the layout of the hotel facilities, restaurants, pool areas, snack bars, and general information, so helpful and knowledgeable, any questions they will know the answer or will get you the information needed. Once you have arrived at your room, all I can say is wow, as we all know the heat in Egypt is hot, when we go in May/June the temperature when stepping off the pain at midnight is still in the 80s. So when you enter your room the aircon is on the room is a nice cool temperature. 3. Room set up, as you look around the spacious, large wardrobe space, drawers, bathrobes/slippers. mini-bar full of drinks, alcohol, fruit juices, wine/red & white. Snacks, crisps, basics, nuts good selection, also tea & coffee facility. Bathroom, full-size bath, separate shower, toilet, selection of cosmetics for showering, little extras. Setting/TV area, again TV with UK channels, movie channels with English speaking, are for other items to store, cupboard space. Dressing table with a large m
Arrived at the hotel at about 7pm unfortunately we were not offered anything to drink, not sure if this was missed or if was usual. Our room was huge and very clean. The rooms only have bbc news so if you want a bit of English tv you would be disappointed, didn’t bother us but I know some guests may be put off. The cleaner was a bit of a nuisance, he would let himself in after only waiting a short time before entering, on one occasion I was in the bathroom and as he entered the room he opened the door, thank goodness I was just cleaning my teeth. Halfway through our holiday he knocked the door and said he was going on vacation tomorrow so we gave him a tip only for him still to be there 2 days later. The staff are amazing and really look after you from cleaning your sunglasses to bringing drinks to your sun bed. The food at the ala carte restaurants were good, we took the advice of previous guest and booked the restaurants the day after our arrival and managed to get into all 5. The steak was this the same meat at all the restaurants just called different at each. The cocktails are amazing proper quality. The evening shows were a bit disappointing we saw Indian Egyptian and Argentine dancing, not much variety. All in all we had a great time and would return
