With a name like Rydges, you would expect nothing but the best. This was NOT the case. For a start, they do not offer a discounted price or anything of the like for Bridal Party participants (the reception was held in the hotel) nor do they offer late check out for the Bride and Groom (you would think after spending a substantial amount that this would at least be an option). When arriving at the room, I was met with mouldy grout in the shower, calcified floors and spiders in the shower. It looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks. The complimentary soaps had already been used. I took photos and spoke with reception, to which they said ”We will send the cleaners up now.” An hour later, I received a phone call to say that the cleaners needed extra time to clean the bathroom and they required us to move rooms, then and there. At this time, the wedding reception (in the hotel) was about to commence. I said I was unable to do so at that time due to the bride and groom about to enter and being a part of the bridal party, and I found the response to this quite pushy. They wanted us to leave the wedding and pack our things right then. Our room was upgraded, and was clean (which was a bonus) but I am certainlhy not impressed with it to begin with. For paying $300 for one night, you would expect the room to be clean and free of spiders. Do not request early check in, as there is no actual way to find out if your room is ready or not without calling. Initially when I rang the week before to confirm my early check in, I was told ”you will just have to rock up, and if it is ready it's ready, if it's not, it's not.” I was not impressed by this at all, and found the response to be quite rude. I rang a few days later, to try my luck again and see if I would get a better response - which I did. I was told I would receive a phone call to tell me when it would be ready (I was told it would be flagged to do so, but it was not). There is also no parking on sight, but a very convenient car park across the road for $30. I am usually not one to complain, but I definitely will not be returning, nor will I recommend this hotel to anyone.
