Imagine for a moment entering a romantic hunting lodge from the early part of the 1900’s. Now imagine a modern and classy version of that same lodge. That’s what you get with the Glen Gordon Manor, an elegant, luxurious, and romantic inn and restaurant in the heart of the Shenandoah. We were welcomed warmly by the restaurant manager, Scott, with two glasses of champagne. He gave us a full tour of the property and than showed us to our room. We stayed in the Fyvie room, a detached property within walking distance of the main inn. What made this room amazing, was the large opulent bathroom with a huge soaking tub that fits two people perfectly. We spent practically all afternoon and the following morning in that tub, which felt like a day spa. In addition to the tub, the room featured a bidet, as well as a Sonos surround sound system, which allowed us to play music while relaxing in the room. To finish off the experience, the room featured a private patio overlooking the fields. It was the perfect spot to enjoy an early morning coffee or relax with a book. To enhance our stay, we booked a couples massage, in their newly renovated converted barn spa. The spa featured a massage room, a small advanced fitness center, including a Peloton. The massages were so peaceful and truly enhanced this luxurious and romantic stay. My wife said that the massage truly made her birthday weekend special. And finally, the grand finale, a fine dining experience at the Houndstooth restaurant by chef and owner Dayn Smith. The onsite restaurant is a super intimate candlelit space. We enjoyed a five course tasting menu along with a bottle of local wine. We were more and more impressed with each course that came out. What truly stood out, was the fall squash ravioli and deconstructed halloween dessert. The best part of the dining experience, was the head chef and owners family all worked together to create this experience. His son, Colin, was even one of our servers and was telling us all about his life growing up in restaurants and his future culinary journey. Along with his son, the rest of the staff were absolutely outstanding in service, personality and attention to detail. Even breakfast was unbeatable. The property has free range chickens walking around, which serve as a source of fresh eggs for the morning breakfast. My partner quickly became best friends with the rooster, who likes the left over bread from the previous evenings dinner. We have eaten at many top restaurants in the world and this was surely one of the best dining experiences that we have ever had. So much so, that Patrick O'Connell from the Inn at Little Washington, frequents the establishment… on his rare days off. One thing to note about this property, was it’s close proximity to some of Virginia’s best wineries and small towns. This makes for a perfect day outing before returning to the inn and relaxing. We highly recommend this inn and restaurant if you are looking to celebrate a special occ

Very peaceful and relaxing - perfect for couples or those wanting to escape from the cities etc. Loved the chickens, so entertaining. Lovely food. Be nice to have a choice though as menus are set. Outdoor furniture, i.e. parasols by pool etc were falling apart, would be nice to have 3 or 4 especially when weather is really hot for protection whilst around pool. Loveliest pillows, slept like a dream. Kettle and tea/coffee making facilities would be good in rooms. Did not miss TV one bit.

Glen Gordon is quite charming, as promised. The land is beautiful and we enjoyed being close to a generous-sized chicken pen (probably the luckiest chickens alive) as well as 3 beautiful horses. Our couples' massage was perfect and dinner was delicious. We stayed in The Windsor Room which is quite nice. That said, we wished for: A full length mirror, a safe, a makeup/shaving mirror, bathrobes and a telephone with which to call "the front desk" for a fly swatter. We had 3 flies in the room with us, and I only managed to kill 2 with a sandal. We arrived early for dinner and were seated right away. Being early, we chose to order pre-dinner cocktails. Unfortunately, we received them just 2 minutes before the waitress insisted on serving our salads. I think they may be a bit "understaffed" there. Also, as we left the building that evening, we both stumbled where the pavement meets the driveway. There is a step down which was totally in the dark. Not good. All in all, I'd say it's a lovely spot with excellent service. It does have its quirks though, so I give it 4 stars, not 5.

A truly lovely place, great food and staff is wonderful-calm, quiet beautiful views. Two things that jumped out at us that was a bit of a disappointment and surprised us - we had the room with the outside private hot tub - the private patio had several bees nests active in the space and the outside table and chairs were unusable because they were splintering - the hairdryer was sticky and visually dirty. For the price I expected these items to be as nice as everything else. We’ll come again-but maybe stay in another space.

We had a weekend excursion to Glen Gordon Manor and it was great. We were celebrating our anniversary, and staying at Glen Gordon Manor made it special. The property is very nice, location is very scenic, our room was luxurious, service is excellent, and the dinner was outstanding.
