Persons with disabilities leading the way in soybean production https://lnkd.in/dSZgaiPV In western Kenya, persons with disabilities are planting soybeans with the hope of transforming their lives. The Chakol and Amase Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) groups first formed in Alupe, western Kenya in 2013 with the aim of improving their members’ futures. Over the years, the groups have taken part in table-banking initiatives but have continued to struggle to sustain their activities due to the harsh economic situation experienced in the country. The younger members of the group face additional challenges. “Our group has 45 members, most of whom are young people who have completed secondary school but are unable to secure employment due to their disability status,” explains Agnes Auma, the chairperson for the Chakol PWDs group. #WesternKenya #PersonsWithDisabilities #SoybeanFarming #DisabilityInclusion #AgricultureForChange #ChakolPWDs #AmasePWDs #EconomicEmpowerment #TableBanking #YouthEmployment #InclusiveAgriculture #KenyaAgriculture #PWDsInKenya #SocialImpact #EmpoweringPWDs #DisabilityRights #AgriculturalInitiatives #SustainableFarming #TransformingLives #DisabilityAwareness #KenyanCommunities

Droughts, in particular, are becoming more common, and their effects are felt across various sectors of agriculture. Among the concerns for livestock farmers is the increasing risk of plant poisoning, as certain toxic plant species thrive in dry conditions. With their resilience to drought, these plants remain green and succulent when other vegetation is struggling, making them attractive to grazing animals. This can pose a serious threat to livestock health, especially if the animals are unfamiliar with the danger. #Farming #Livestock #Plantpoisoning #News #Drought #Animalhealth

𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝘄 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲: 𝗔 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 https://lnkd.in/dVmCSpxk Powdery mildew is a pervasive fungal disease affecting a wide range of plants, from vegetables and fruit crops to herbaceous ornamentals and agronomic plants. This disease, caused by various species of fungi, is commonly found in both commercial and residential plantings. While it poses a more severe risk when it appears early in the season, its impact can vary. Plants infected early often suffer significant damage, with reduced vigor, stunted growth, and compromised yield, while late-season infections may only cause superficial damage. However, powdery mildew can still stress plants, making them more vulnerable to other diseases. #Agriculture #Fungalcontrol #News #Farming #Powdery
