Our PhD student, Thandeka Tshabalala, representing the South in Sweden. We look forward to hearing about her experience at the Sustainability Transitions Research Network (STRN) PhD School!
Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the STRN PhD school at Chalmers University in Gothenburg, Sweden, alongside fellow PhD students from around the world. It was an enriching experience, filled with critical discussions on transition theory frameworks and their relevance to our research. A highlight for me was the session on the Global South, which deeply resonated with my work. It reinforced how much transition scholarship still needs to evolve to fully capture the complexities of energy transitions in these contexts. We also participated in a paper development session, receiving invaluable feedback from senior researchers and peers. The insights gained will no doubt strengthen my approach moving forward. A key takeaway? The importance of engaging with global networks like the Sustainability Transitions Research Network (STRN) to bridge knowledge gaps and push for a more inclusive transitions discourse. Excited to stay connected and continue these critical conversations!
