  • A number of women who graduated from the WiWiT programme and have moved onto their work experience are thriving and making an undeniable impact in the logistics industry! One of our standout ladies at Emit Reversing Time is leading the charge with her exceptional work ethic and driving skills. Her positive attitude and willingness to assist have earned her glowing reviews. As her supervisor shared: "We have gotten nothing but great reviews from the operations team. She looks so confident driving the bigger trucks, and the other drivers respect her." Women are proving they have what it takes to thrive in this industry. Stories like hers highlight why it’s so important to create opportunities and space for more women! #WiWiT #CTA #WomenInLogistics

This morning marked a milestone as I attended my first-ever MOU Signing Ceremony. In true American style, we gathered in person to sign an agreement that aims to inspire meaningful change for student shuttle drivers and for the students who are transport safely and reliably to school and home. While most MOUs are signed electronically, this personal touch was truly special and memorable. Thanks to the support of Troy Tillis from USAID and Michael Schooler, Principal of the American International School in Johannesburg and Pretoria, we developed an innovative programme in partnership with Hollard Insurance. Over the next 12 months, 10 YES students will be trained to become professional chauffeurs, equipped with the skills needed to work with children and teenagers at this prestigious school. This initiative is a first for the Commercial Transport Academy (CTA) and we couldn’t be prouder to contribute to shaping the futures of these WiWiT students. This is certainly a project that we will all keep a very close eye on. Together, we’re driving change and creating a meaningful impact through collaboration and partnerships. The Courier Incubator’s journey kicked off in Joburg and made its way to Cape Town, marking the start of something transformative! The vehicle launches brought together leaders, visionaries, and our trailblazing candidates, all of whom are ecstatic to reshape the future of women in the last mile. A massive thank you to IVECO for their generosity in providing these incredible vehicles to the host companies for the ladies to use during their training (and they absolutely LOVE them). As one candidate put it, “the Iveco is so comfortable, it feels like it was made for women.” Here’s a look back at some unforgettable and heartwarming moments that marked the beginning of our story! #WomenInLastMile #Womenintransport #TheCourierIncubator

Our Iron Women gathered at the Commercial Transport Academy (CTA) for an empowering event where leaders from across the transport industry shared insights and inspiration. Among them was Valencia Adams, MBA from Volvo Trucks South Africa, whose words of encouragement truly resonated with our aspiring heavy-duty truck drivers. As a successful female dealer principal in the extra-heavy trucking environment, Valencia’s confidence and commitment to diversity left a lasting impression on our trainees, showing them firsthand the heights they can reach. As a key partner, Volvo’s support extends beyond this event. The Volvo trucks they've provided have become an integral part of our training, giving these women invaluable hands-on experience as they prepare to hit the road as skilled professionals. For the Iron Women, each drive in the Volvo truck is a step toward shattering barriers and rewriting what’s possible for their futures. Yesterday morning, we received the most inspiring message from one of our Hollard Insurance Youth Employment Service (YES) South Africa students, and I just have to share it with you. When young women join our program to become professional truck drivers, they often feel overwhelmed by the opportunities, filled with self-doubt and uncertainty about whether the programme will deliver on its promises—especially with so many unreliable skills programmes in South Africa. Unesakhe Sibuka is now just three months into her program and is being hosted at InterTown Transport in Cape Town. She shared this heart warming feedback: “Hi Raine, I just wanna tell you that today they gave me a route to drive a big truck—8 tonnes—as their driver wasn’t in today. They trusted me 💃💃💃💃💃 and I didn’t disappoint 💃. I delivered everything across 16 stops and came back with a full load of collections. And it’s the second time! At first, they gave me a bakkie—I’m so proud of myself 🤭.” How can we not feel immense pride in the impact we’re creating as an industry collaboration! On behalf of the Commercial Transport Academy (CTA), I am so proud that we get to do this work every day. Thank you Hollard for your commitment to creating Better Futures, for allocating over 107 YES students to the CTA and entrusting us with this amazing responsibility! • Over the past few days, we had the pleasure of collaborating with the USAID and Tetra Tech teams on an exciting programme set to launch in Southern Africa next year. After a series of productive workshops in Johannesburg with key industry players, we were thrilled to host the teams at our Cape Town offices. There, they had the chance to meet some of our inspiring CTA students, hear their remarkable stories firsthand, and engage with our Cape Town partners on advancing industry goals. We’re grateful to everyone who contributed valuable insights to the programme, engaged in impactful discussions, and inspired our students with their experiences and words of encouragement. • Two years ago, the Commercial Transport Academy (CTA) partnered with UD Trucks Southern Africa to launch the Ultimate Women Programme. Our mission was to empower unemployed women by developing their driving skills, transforming them into professional commercial drivers for the light to medium vehicle sectors. Through the sponsorship of two 8-tonne industry spec’d vehicles, our patient and supportive driver trainers have logged over 51,000 km of intensive, in-cab training. We've proudly supported 105 women to transform into skilled drivers— 81% have already secured employment, or are currently enhancing their skills through a year-long YES internship with The Courier Incubator project. An Ultimate Woman - “Every day on this journey, I’m breaking stereotypes and proving to myself that I belong here. From the weight of parcels to the freedom of the road, each challenge has taught me resilience, joy, and the power of a supportive team. I'm grateful to keep learning.” Janet Frost - “ UD Trucks is extremely excited about the collaboration and partnership with CTA. We launched the Ultimate Women project to ensure the transformation of our industry and a better life for all, striving to reach excellence.” #UltimateWomen #CTA
