Important Update: Legal Sector Code – What You Need to Know The Legal Practice Council has issued key updates on the Legal Sector Code while we await the establishment of the Legal Charter Council. Highlights include: - Exemptions: Law firms and advocates with specific revenue thresholds or Black Ownership may qualify for compliance exemptions. - Priority Elements for Compliance: Large entities and QSEs must meet ownership and development targets to maintain their B-BBEE levels. - Transition Period: Certificates issued before 20 September 2024 remain valid, but new verifications will follow the updated Legal Sector Codes.
