With temperatures soaring to 43°C, the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) team braved the heat during a visit to Emesco's Schonau solar PV project site near Karasburg in southern Namibia. DBN has supported the Schonau project with project preparation funding, and their visit was a vital part of their due diligence process. We thank DBN for all their continued support in the development of the Schonau project, bringing us a step closer to implementing the first project finance backed merchant renewable energy project in Namibia. #Emesco #DBN #Sustainablefinance #EnergyFinance #SAPP #EnergyTrading #Solar #Schonau

meteocontrol has been invaluable in Emesco's plant monitoring & forecasting over the first year of operations at Rosh Pinah Solar Park, ensuring seamless and efficient performance. We look forward to many more years of partnership.
⚡☀ With an installed capacity of 5.4 MWp, Rosh Pinah Solar Park (RPSP), is an embedded solar PV plant located in Rosh Pinah, Namibia which supplies electricity to Rosh Pinah Zinc Corporation (RPZC). The plant was developed, built and is operated by Emesco Energy Namibia. ✅ meteocontrol implemented a complete solution consisting of a Power Plant Controller (PPC), professional monitoring and digitalized service management through VCOM Cloud. 🗣 „meteocontrol has supported us as our trusted partner from the initial planning and concept of the plant monitoring, control and service management to the commissioning and grid feed-in. At present meteocontrol provides an important solution to manage and optimize the asset,“ says Pieter Rossouw, Director at Rosh Pinah Solar Park. 🔌The PV system will replace 30 percent of the fossil-fuel heavy energy that RPZC currently purchases from the national utility. In its first year of production, Rosh Pinah Solar Park produces 14,532 MWh (Clean Development Mechanism - Standard baseline – Grid emission factor for South African Power Pool (ASB0040-2018)) of electricity. This equates to 14,345 tons of CO2 emissions if generated through coal-fired plants. #energytransition #technology #alternativeenergy #africa Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA) Member

Emesco Energy has partnered with O&L Nexentury to advance the final stages of the Schonau Solar Energy project through a Joint Development Agreement. This collaboration exemplifies the synergy among Namibian firms working towards realising mutual benefit. Following the recent announcement by Namibia's electricity regulator (ECB) and NamPower of a 100MW limit of electricity export into the Southern African Power Pool, Emesco and O&L Nexentury will pool their export capacities under this agreement, ensuring the Schonau project meets its necessary scale efficiencies. The project has already achieved significant milestones and is on track to break ground early 2025. #Renewableenergy #Energyfinance #Impactinvesting #Emesco

Emesco’s Namibian Country Manager, Nico Knight, recently attended the ‘Physical and financial power markets’ course presented by Nord Pool (Europe’s leading short- and long-term power market), in preparation for Emesco trading activities on the Southern African Power Pool. Energy exchanges, such as Nord Pool, are an ideal example of how diversification between energy resources, geographies, and market participants could promote competitive pricing and ensure security of supply, not only to one country, but the region. We look forward starting our energy trading journey soon. All large power consumers throughout SADC and especially in Namibia are welcome to contact us to learn more about the benefits Emesco offers. #Emesco #Nordpool #MSBNamibia #SAPP #EnergyFinance #sustainablefinance #impactinvesting #Schonausolar
