SASCRS 2024 took place in beautiful Umhlanga, featuring venues like The Pearls, The Radisson, and the iconic Oyster Box, which hosted the Gala Evening. 🌴 The setting provided an ideal backdrop for a packed academic programme, complemented by social events and scenic promenade walks. We’ve been busy all week with World Sight Day 2024 activities, culminating on World Sight Day, which took place yesterday. For World Retina Week, we’ve added a playful twist to our message, geared towards raising retinal health awareness. With our blue-tinted glasses 🩵, illustrations of "unhealthy foods" fade into the background, while "healthy foods" pop to the forefront—like magic! 🍏🥕 Retinal health is vital! ✅ Fun fact: objects don’t actually have colour; they reflect light in different wavelengths, which our brains interpret as colour! 🌈 Humans generally have three types of photoreceptors:red, green, and blue, that allow us to see a full spectrum. These cone cells, located in the retina, are responsible for our colour vision. 🚀 We had great fun creating this, but the real excitement was watching people interact with it.
