About us
Good Governance Africa (GGA) was established in 2012 as an independent, registered non-profit organisation – with offices in South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana – with the aim of promoting better governance in Africa to improve the lives of all citizens. We research, analyse and interpret information aligned with our focus areas across context-driven centres in Africa. GGA conducts targeted research, promotes fact-based knowledge and propagates ethical values and aligned strategic partnerships. Through our flagship publications, the quarterly Africa in Fact journal and annual Africa Survey, GGA generates and publishes content representing an Afro-centric voice, with hard-hitting reportage and in-depth analysis, including key economic, social and political indicators on all the countries on the continent.

Happy Reconciliation Day, South Africa! Today, as we reflect on the profound connection between good governance and the healing of historical wounds, we are reminded of the power of nurturing. Like a skilled gardener, good governance tends to the delicate seeds of reconciliation, fostering growth and resilience. By upholding principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity, we create an environment where the scars of the past can begin to fade. As Nelson Mandela eloquently stated, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." Through the power of good governance, we rise together, building a future where unity and prosperity flourish.

In recent years, lifestyle audits have emerged as a vital tool in combating corruption and financial misconduct within the public sector. These audits ensure that the economic activities of public officials and politicians align with their declared income and assets, reinforcing accountability in the management of taxpayer funds. Good Governance Africa's Chrissy Dube and Special Investigating Unit's Kaizer Kganyago recently joined POWER 98.7's Lerato Mbele to explore the institutionalisation of lifestyle audits. Are these measures critical in the fight against corruption among public servants and politicians? https://lnkd.in/dn5KMxJT

With more elections held this year than ever, 2024 has become a turning point for democratic renewal. The right to vote is not merely a privilege; it is a cornerstone of human rights, a shield against oppression, and a promise of hope. Democracy’s survival is our commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections. This International Human Rights Day, let us remember that every vote calls for justice, equality, and respect—values that protect our shared humanity.
