Recently at the Solid Waste Institute for Sustainability of the The University of Texas at Arlington, these Africans representing Nigeria, Ethiopia, Senega, Ghana, Mali and Tunisia had fruitful discussion with ISWA International Solid Waste Association, President, Mr. James Law on Collaboration, Expansion and Membership. The deep discussion before meeting the President has made 11 Africans from these countries join ISWA Africa Regional Chapter and the President has given all of them who were not ISWA member before now, an automatic free membership for one year. The Government of Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe have launched a USD 90 Million project to reduce the release of hazardous chemicals from plastics. The project takes a Sector-based approach and covers the Automotive, Electronics, and Construction Industries. This initiative will focus on reducing the import, production, and use of toxic chemicals in plastic-containing products.
