We are beyond excited about what the future holds for our Lapalala Wilderness School, and we thank Local Studio Architecture & Urban Design for your support over the past five years. Such a productive partnership which we are truly grateful for.
Yesterday’s site visit to Lapalala Wilderness School was a very nostalgic one for us. After 5 years, this is one of our last site visits to the school for the issue of Final Completion on our newly completed Biodiversity Centre (GRBC) and additional residential units. The GRBC exhibition, curated by Lapalala Wilderness School and designed by Office 24-7 Architecture, is well underway with the completed museum set to open mid-2025. We are so eager to experience the transformation of the GRBC interior into a Waterberg wildlife wonderland!

LWS's partnership with Local Studio Architecture & Urban Design is undoubtedly making history amongst local SA communities!
Exploring self-sufficiency in architecture (2 / 2) In remote regions, construction can be challenging due to issues such as lack of skilled labour and infrastructure. Designed by Local Studio Architecture & Urban Design, the remote Lapalala Wilderness School in Limpopo, South Africa, counters this challenge by creating self-sufficient systems and using local resources, which minimise dependence on external means for building construction, operation, and maintenance.
