I was honored to be part of the inaugural Business of Football Conference in South Africa, hosted by Evert De Bruyn. It was a personal eye-opener, giving me a deeper understanding of the many intricacies within football. I walked away with thought-provoking and valuable insights. Some of the key takeaways: The State of Women’s Football in South Africa Indira Sofia Albuquerque presentation highlighted the current state of women’s football in South Africa, emphasizing the need for increased corporate sponsorship to support the growth of the women’s game. She expanded on the traditional commercial models that they may not effectively serve women’s football & stressed the importance of developing strategies specific to the needs and values of female athletes. This approach could create a more sustainable, inclusive ecosystem for women’s football in South Africa. The other key takeout was the Role of Sporting Director: Mr Flemming Berg offered a in depth look into his role and the crucial responsibilities it holds to the success of the team on and beyond the field. He shared insights into the strategic and operational tasks that define a Sporting Director's work, including talent identification, development, and management. His insights emphasized the importance of collaboration among departments to foster a successful, cohesive environment in which players and staff can thrive. Truly grateful to Mscsports for providing me with the opportunity to be part of this inspiring event.

All thanks to Mscsports, I had the privilege of attending the Business of Football Conference hosted by Evert De Bruyn and CEO's in Sport this weekend! As a small fish in this evolving industry, I walked away with so much knowledge and insight gained from those sharing with us both on, and off the stage. My standout speakers definitely included Brendon Fourie, Carrie Delaney (Dip ESA), Sinesipho Mali, Roscoe Krieling, Flemming Berg, Tommy Makhobela and Nqobile Ndlovu, to name a few. Because of all the nuggets of wisdom shared I am even further motivated and determined to make my mark in the football and sports space! Phambili SA football, phambili! 🙌🏽
