A Year-End Celebration: Embracing Ubuntu with The Club Advocates' Chambers Last Friday night, I had the privilege of organizing and attending The Club Advocates' Chambers year-end function, and I was truly inspired by the spirit of ubuntu that permeated the event. Ubuntu, a Nguni Bantu philosophy, emphasizes the importance of humaneness, compassion, and community. It’s the idea that “a person is a person through other people.” The Chambers celebration was a perfect embodiment of this philosophy. The event was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and heartfelt appreciation. It was clear that the Chambers values its members and fosters a strong sense of belonging. As I mingled with colleagues and clients, I was struck by the genuine warmth and kindness that everyone exuded. It was evident that they have cultivated a workplace culture that prioritizes human connection and collaboration. I’m grateful to have been a part of such a wonderful event. It’s inspiring to see an organization that truly lives its values. Here’s to another successful year! #ubuntu #companyculture #yearendfunction #celebration #buildingbusiness #connectingpeople

  • A Night of Connection   The Pretoria Society of Advocates hosted a transformative Meet and Greet Networking event on the 5th of September 2024 for their Junior Members of 0-3 years that brought together industry professionals from various fields. The event was a resounding success, fostering new connections, sparking insightful conversations, and creating lasting relationships.   Attendees were treated to a vibrant atmosphere with engaging speakers, delicious food and refreshing drinks. The event provided ample opportunities for attendees to network, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations with colleagues and potential clients.   The highlight of the evening was the two keynote speakers, Judge Tsungai Phehane, a Judge of from the Labour Court from of the South African Judiciary, who spoke about a her uniquely transformative journey, and Mrs Lynne du Toit-Koen from Maponya Inc who shared valuable insights into a client’s expectations of an Advocate.   We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all attendees for their participation and enthusiasm, your presence made this event a memorable one.   We are already planning our next networking event and look forward to connecting with you again soon.   #networking #advocacy #transformation #thepretoriasocietyofadvocates #meetandgreet

  • Over the past four days the PSA Pupil Selection Committee interviewed a diverse group of enthusiastic candidates from across the length and breadth of South Africa, who applied to commence Pupillage at the Pretoria Bar as part of our 2025 intake. In keeping with the PSA's ongoing commitment to meaningful transformation within the profession the selection committee will meticulously assess each applicant before making its recommendations to the Bar Council.
