I’m deeply honored to be featured in Get It Magazine, where I share my journey in dog rescue and my path to becoming one of the Directors of SAFE. 🐶 Moving to Durban was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, leaving my home, friends & family in JHB. Yet, the healing I’ve found here has been profound. I’m incredibly grateful to be apart of a community that prioritizes seconds chances and empowers us to create the change we wish to see in the world. It truly starts with us. 🫶🏽💕 A heartfelt thank you to Jennifer Campbell for believing in my story and capturing it so beautifully. I also want to acknowledge my team Shaun, Kerry & Claire for their unwavering support and for teaching me so much about rescue. I had my leg broken and had to have surgery. I was such a brave girl. Well, I am all better now and I am looking for my very own happy home. I have lots of energy, I am bouncy and fun. I love to cuddle and snuggle, and go for walks along the beach. I am good with other dogs (unknown with cats). I am house-trained, smart and affectionate. These freedoms ensure we meet the mental and physical needs of animals in our care: 1️⃣ Freedom from thirst, hunger, and malnutrition: Providing ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour. 2️⃣ Freedom from discomfort and exposure: Ensuring an appropriate environment, including shelter and a comfortable resting area. 3️⃣ Freedom from pain, injury, and disease: Through prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment. 4️⃣ Freedom from fear and distress: By ensuring conditions and treatment that avoid mental suffering. 5️⃣ Freedom to express normal behavior: By providing sufficient space, proper facilities, and the company of the animal’s own kind. Wimby now Malibu is the young Jack Russel who was knocked over by a car and found in Sunningdale with his back legs paralyzed from the shock of the impact. He recovered and got the use of his back legs back, but he still has a little bit of co-ordination issues which do not hold him back from living his very best life. Mali was adopted but sadly he is not getting on with the other female Jack Russell and we have been asked to find this special boy a new home. Mali is super loving, he has loads of energy and loves to cuddle. He adores his food, but struggles with separation anxiety and needs to be a companion for someone who works from home, or who is looking for a little friend. He would do best as an only dog. 😺🐶HAPPY HERITAGE DAY FROM A RESCUE ORG🐾 Definition of Heritage: the history, traditions, practices, etc. of a particular country, society, or company that exist from the past and continue to be important: - The heritage of a system that has not protected 1000's of animals in KZN has left so many animals in vulnerable situations. - That system has become a practice many have adopted when dealing with our animals. - A society can be judged by the treatment of its most vulnerable, and the traditions we teach our children determine the cycle. - We are ALL a reflection of the Heritage the next generation will be governed by. Today SAFE asks you to make a pledge - a pledge to be part of changing the Heritage for animals in KZN. Because EVERY life SHOULD matter And we can ALL make the world kinder ONE action at a time.
