We had the pleasure of hosting Hugo Morgado, Operations Instructor at Finning Cat for the factory acceptance test of the CYBERMINE Cat 798 AC simulator. As a subject matter expert, Hugo’s feedback was instrumental in the development of the simulator cab. At our Training Centres, as individuals gain basic knowledge of underground logistics and services, we begin training them as operators. After mastering fundamental skills with trucks and LHDs, we further assess their potential to advance as drill rig operators. Yesterday, we welcomed Premier Doug Ford and Minister of Mines George Pirie, both eager to see firsthand how NORCAT is redefining training, tech, and growth in Ontario’s mining ecosystem. Our day kicked off with the Premier and Minister greeting a classroom full of eager trainees, each on the cusp of embarking in a career in mining. Next, we stopped in at IRegained Inc., a med-tech startup revolutionizing stroke rehabilitation with their groundbreaking MyHand System. The excitement continued in our simulation lab, where the Premier got behind the wheel of a Haul Truck to experience a day in the life of an underground miner. From there, it was on to Studio NORCAT, where we put out (virtual) fires while showcasing our latest #VR and #AR safety solutions. The tour wrapped up with visits to more of our visionary residents, including CircuitIQ, TesMan Inc., SYMX.AI, and LoopX, each a testament to our thriving ecosystem of innovation here in Northern Ontario. This visit was an incredible showcase of the creativity and ambition that define all of us here at NORCAT. We had the honor of developing a virtual custom Own Mine World for Protech Group in Australia for their CYBERMINE Cat 793F Simulator. The team at Protech joined us for Factory Acceptance Testing and put the simulator through its paces. The custom mine world was designed and developed to address all the possible scenarios Protech’s trainees would face when in the field. The simulator will be a part of a New to Industry training programme to upskill their trainees to operate as safely and efficiently as possible.
