Years of continued investment in the conservation and genetic improvement of Sable Antelope across our properties are starting to yield results. We recently had the privilege of hosting Dr. Neil Parsons of the Matobo Vet Centre – Game Unit, on our Machiya Estate property, to immobilise and relocate a young Sable bull, who our team have been monitoring closely, as he developed in the extensive conservation area on the property. We felt this young bull showed immense potential from early on and as he has developed, we felt it was important to ensure he was correctly utilised in our Sable breeding program, enabling us to proliferate his superior genetics, with a handpicked group of Sable heifers and cows out of the herds on our different properties and from other private conservation areas around the country. Once immobilised, the bull was given a thorough health check and measurements were taken. We are thrilled to share this young bull boasts horns measuring a staggering 52 3/8”, with room for further growth. This young bull, born and bred on our Kalumbila Farm, out of extensive, free-roaming herds, further reinforces the quality of the Sable genetics we are privileged to protect. We are excited to witness this incredible young bull develop further and produce progeny of superior quality, which will hopefully make a positive impact on many Sable populations around Zambia in future! #MutandaFarms #ProudlyZambian #NaturallyGood #ZambianSable #Conservation #SableAntelope
