Flowing towards sustainability! NWASCO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation (MWDS), Commercial Utilities (CUs), and UNICEF just concluded a crucial two-day workshop that focused on reviewing the Draft Sustainability Strategy for Water Treatment Chemicals (WTCs). Since 2020, UNICEF, with support from the German Development Bank (KfW), strategically supplied 11 CUs with vital WTCs and is now empowering them to take charge of their chemical procurement and usage. This initiative is not merely an enhancement; it's a definitive step toward reducing reliance on external support and building robust local capacities. The discussions underscored that while securing sufficient supply of WTCs is crucial, it is equally important to optimize their usage by focusing on improving the capacity of CUs to utilize WTCs efficiently and sustainably. This collaborative effort signifies the government’s unwavering dedication to fostering a sustainable and resilient water sector in Zambia. Together, we aim to ensure that every Zambian, especially children have access to safe, clean, and affordable water for generations to come. #NWASCO #MWDS #UNICEF #WaterTreatment #Sustainability #Zambia #SafeWater Chola Mbilima Lloyd Beensi Kalusha Sakala

Good day, Today, 25th November, marks the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, ending on 10th December, which is Human Rights Day. This year’s theme, “Every 10 Minutes, a Woman is Killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence Against Women,” serves as a powerful call to action. It reminds us of the urgent need to create safer, more equitable societies for all—women, men, and children alike. Let us stand together and commit to ending gender-based violence in all its forms.
