A gentle reminder this Holiday Season! Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) reduces the amount of HIV in the body. When a person takes them consistently, antiretroviral drugs are very effective. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO: 📅Take your medication daily. ⏰Take your medication on time. 💊Take your medication as prescribed. #STAYSAFE #ANTIRETROVIRAL

  • This week, we joined the Mberengwa community for the Provincial World AIDS Day commemorations. We participated in the provision of free TB testing, counseling services, dispelling misconceptions, and essential sputum sample collection for presumed clients while emphasizing the need for early diagnosis and treatment of TB. We recognise the need of integrating TB screening in World AIDS Day commemorations because TB has a considerable impact on individuals living with HIV, and tackling HIV/AIDS also includes addressing co-infections. Remember, ending TB requires a universal commitment – each of us has a role to play. Let us keep pushing for a healthier future! JF Kapnek Zimbabwe’s dedication to improving early detection and treatment of individuals with TB and ensuring the message reaches every community is demonstrated by our active support of programs like the TB Treatment Access Prevention Program, which aims to scale up case detection and improve treatment success. The program is being implemented in support of the Ministry of Health & Child Care by JF Kapnek Zimbabwe in partnership with OPHID, with the support of USAID. #hivandtb #endTB USAID Organisation for Public Health Interventions and Development

Grateful to have attended an insightful webinar on Toose which means “Together” in Shona. Toose is a transformative model for preventing and responding to GBV. Key Takeaways from the session: ✔ Improved family dynamics: Project participants shared how Toose transformed relationships with their husbands, children, and daughters-in-law. ✔ Better communication: Couples learned practical skills to foster healthier communication. ✔ New skills: Visioning, problem-solving, and communication training empowered participants to dream and act together. ✔ Safe spaces: Women found a haven for sharing, learning, and growth. A standout lesson for me was the emphasis on intentional disability inclusion, supported by JF Kapnek Zimbabwe,a disability technical partner, ensuring no one is left behind in this journey of empowerment and equity. The session also highlighted the importance of collaborating with women-centered organizations and the continuous strengthening of their capacity to amplify impact. Toose exemplifies what’s possible when savings groups, urban resilience, and a session curriculum addressing the root causes of IPV come together to spark meaningful change. Evidence has shown that in VAW prevention, once-off sessions are rarely effective. Repeated engagements and consistent intensity are essential to achieving meaningful and lasting outcomes. Also, when designing programmes, it is critical to use multiple strategies and activities to address different drivers of VAW (ie holistic design). Kudos to the team behind this groundbreaking methodology and to the implementing partners for their dedication! netty musanhu Bekezela Amanda Mapanda Social Development DirectJo Abbot Gemma Ferguson "While #Toose is not a silver bullet, it is indeed magic.” Looking forward to the scaling up of this methodology in other districts.

  • JF Kapnek Zimbabwe recently led a crucial site support exercise in Bikita District were we actively looked at viral load monitoring for pregnant and breastfeeding women, did physical counts and looked at continuous quality improvement (cQI) processes for viral load monitoring. These exercises are essential in maintaining data dependability, treatment adherence, and integrity. They also aid in the ongoing improvements of HIV care monitoring and response strategies. 🌟 Did you know? 🌟 - Testing for HIV during pregnancy is crucial! - HIV-positive women can maintain a low or undetectable viral load with proper treatment. - This significantly reduces the risk of transmitting HIV to their baby. - Adhering to treatment, healthy eating, and care during and after pregnancy are key. - With the right support, women can give birth to healthy, HIV-negative children!* This vital site support is essential for the effective implementation of programs like TASQC, ensuring quality data and service delivery, ultimately improving the lives of mothers and babies. The program is being implemented by JF Kapnek Zimbabwe in partnership with OPHID and ZNNP+, with the support of PEPFAR through USAID. Let’s spread awareness and support each other! #HIVAwareness #HealthyPregnancy #undetectableequalsuntransmittable The U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Ministry of Health and Child Care.
