On Wednesday this week, we hosted the team from Charitable Foundation (Australia) at our UNICEF Zimbabwe funded Budiriro 1 Water Kiosk, where they appreciated climate smart and hygienic innovation that is enabling people from the surrounding areas access clean portable water! 🚰 At Oxfam, we believe that access to clean water is a basic human right and must be easily accessed by everyone. Budiriro Water Kiosk supports over 3,500 households, ensuring that families have the clean and safe water. 💧💚 "We are committed to enhancing and improving clean water access and improving public health particularly on sanitation and hygiene for the less privileged communities," says Kuita Mavudze, Oxfam in Zimbabwe Humanitarian Programme Manager. #WASH #CleanWater #CommunitySupport

We are excited to share on progress being made on scaling up the Mandere Climate Resilient Villages Programme (CRV) in Gutu District under CARL Project funded by SIDA - Embassy of Sweden in Zimbabwe and co-financed by Hillary Dent (Philanthropist & Oxfam Supporter) Oxfam and AQUAZIM are collaborating to support 109 smallholder farmers in a community garden project focused on food security, land regeneration, and economic growth. The 2-hectare garden showcases diverse value chains with products like orange-fleshed sweet potatoes, NUA 45 beans, and indigenous chicken production, acting as an innovation and learning hub for the local community. 🐓🌾🥬 🫘 💬 Hillary had this to say on her visit - "We're not only aiming to address immediate food insecurity needs but also contributing to long-term solutions for climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods". By adopting a sustainable, circular bioeconomy approach, the program is promoting community resilience against climate shocks and fostering social cohesion, income generation, and women empowerment. #ClimateResilience #WomenEmpowerment #CommunityDevelopment

✨ Meet Philip Mutudza, a resilient farmer from Buhera Ward 2️⃣5️⃣ who has turned climate change challenges into opportunities with support from the Climate Adaptation for Rural Livelihoods Project (Phase 2). By embracing fish farming and natural resource management techniques, he has transformed his homestead into a model of sustainability, ensuring food security for his family all year-round. 🐟 "The CARL project showed me how food security, climate, natural resources, and biodiversity are connected. I have implemented these lessons and now I am able to support my family,” says Philip. 💬 With support from SIDA - Embassy of Sweden in Zimbabwe, the CARL Project is being implemented in Buhera, Bulilima, Gutu and Mberengwa Districts targeting 20,000 households. The project seeks to reduce rural livelihoods’ vulnerability to climate change, prepare communities and institutions to better anticipate, adapt, and respond to climate shocks. #CARL #FoodSecurity #ClimateChange

Why Oxfam CARES about CARE? 💚 Women bear the disproportionate burden of care work, limiting their opportunities for learning, earning, and participating in social activities. In marginalized communities, lack of resources exacerbates this issue, hindering women's empowerment and perpetuating cycles of poverty. ✨ Ulita Mutambo said: “It all started with the launch of the #WeCare Program in 2014, and that’s when everything changed for the better. Initially, I was doing everything alone—hauling firewood from the mountains and fetching water from a distant borehole. But once my husband joined the program and began to lend a hand, things got much easier. Now, the workload is so much lighter! #WeCare #Teamwork #BetterTogether Read More: https://lnkd.in/dxtzHPba
