Multiple occasions to celebrate our partners these days: Congratulations to Tatanga Energy on signing a PPA with Africa GreenCo to implement an innovative offtake model on the Sable Solar Project!   Tatanga has been a SCAF partner since 2023, receiving co-funding under our Support Lines 1 and 2 to originate and actively develop utility-scale renewable energy projects in Zimbabwe and neighbouring countries.

Proudly announcing a landmark project milestone! The Sable Solar Energy project reached an important milestone with the signing of a Heads of Terms for a PPA with Africa GreenCo at the recently held #ZimZam Energy Summit. Africa GreenCo is a regional energy aggregator and trader who are pioneering innovative structures to promote the increased uptake of grid scale renewable energy projects within the Southern African region. The Sable Solar project is being developed as a JV between Tatanga Energy, JCM Power and Masawara and is a 30 MWac grid connected solar pv project. The project is located at the historic Sable Chemicals Industries Limited green fertilizer’ facility at Sherwood near Kwekwe in Zimbabwe. The proposed project and partnership with Africa GreenCo will pioneer a new era in Zimbabwe’s renewable energy landscape. In our podcast "Powering Development" we provide a platform for people in the renewable energy sector to share their first-hand experience. One of them is Memory Mashingaidze, Co-Founder and Director of Tatanga Energy. Together with Roanne Albertyn, the CFO Africa of VS Hydro, she worked on the Great Zimbabwe Hydro project, which SCAF supported under its Support Line 2, co-financing legal costs and technical studies. Both women spoke to us about the challenges of developing projects in Zimbabwe and women in energy: https://lnkd.in/exh2zjSw When asked about any specific advice for women interested in entering the sector, Memory said: “Sometimes every job, assignment, or connection may not seem important, but it is important to learn as much as you can from as many people as you can.
