Work In Progress is comprised of tracks that have sat on Andy Mineo’s hard drive for years, not surfacing for multiple reasons. Each track is also accompanied by a podcast explaining the meaning of the song and also going into more depth on the topic of the track.
The mixtape featured a total of four singles: “Keepin it movin am & guv demo.mp3” featuring Guvna B, “Anything But Country (break beat_no trap version).mp3,” “I DON’T NEED YOU (DEMO).wav,” and “1988 REMAKE 2_Nottz_42North.wav.”
In a 2019 interview with RESPECT Magazine, Andy described Work In Progress:
This project is called Work In Progress and it’s basically a mixtape podcast hybrid. So these records have been sitting around on my hard drive for like a year to years. Some even date back to 2014 but they’re records that never came out for various reasons. We just wanted to use this year to get myself back into the music and recording process. I just came out with the idea of including the podcast to describe the full journey of this process.
All of the songs on Work in Progress weren’t originally supposed to be released. They were all abandoned projects that were either not finished or simply not released. Because of this, these tracks, in their various stages of incompletion, sat on Andy Mineo’s hard drive as whatever he chose to save them under. To help push his message that he is a work in progress, he let the song titles remain as whatever they were on his hard drive.
