Clairo’s highly anticipated third album, “Charm,” emerges as a transformative exploration of introspection, growth, and emotional vulnerability. Building on her signature dreamy indie-pop sound, Clairo crafts a deeply personal narrative that navigates the complexities of relationships, self-discovery, and the ever-changing landscapes of young adulthood. The title “Charm” is a reference to the popular saying “the third time’s the charm”, which the artist had revealed in the announcement for the album.
Most of this record was really about… moments that were never lived out, whether they’re good or bad, I think. Charm, or being charmed by somebody, it’s such a grey area of emotion, where you know enough about a person to like them but still there’s still a lack of information around it.
So, you can decide what direction you want to go in, based on this mysterious feeling. Which is like, you could make up the rest of the story, and it is happily every after, or they can really dissapoint you.
I think when I used to focus a lot on goals, especially with romance or whatever, it was kinda counterprodutive. There’s something really nice about, y'know being charmed by somebody, and enjoying the moment. Love is this thing that exists all the time, and you don’t only experience it in these long-term relationships.
Charm is a feeling you have. When you’re charmed, it’s that perfect blend of being goofy-eyed over a person – platonically, romantically – and not knowing how long it will last.

I just found that word to be so interesting. I really liked the idea of the the gray area and the buzziness that two people can feel when they’re being charmed by each other, ‘cause it usually happens before they really know each other. It’s kind of like a crush where there’s a definite lack of information about this person but you know enough to make your own opinion. I kind of wanted the record to live in this bubble of that gray area and then I make up the rest of the story whether it’s good or bad I guess.
