Returning from multiple setbacks throughout his late teenage years, i care so much that i dont care at all reflects on the struggles the young Ash Gutierrez had faced—dealing with mental issues, interference with his career, and most importantly—his past.
After a year and a half of complications, glaive’s debut album follows the late January release of all dogs go to heaven’s deluxe. Production for the long-play began the week of March 15, 2022, which he’d confirmed in a reply to him tweeting “album TIME!!!” on his private 𝕏 (Twitter) account. glaive would tease and preview many of the tracks he had made within the first month on his social media, however, the first two months' worth of sent-out reference files and demos would surface online as a result of multiple mass leaks, yet four of the tracks would go on to make the final album. The two previously released singles, “three wheels and it still drives!” and the original lead single, “minnesota is a place that exists,” were removed from the tracklist.
“as if,” released April 28, 2023, would serve as the new album’s lead single, accompanied by the first music video in a short film trilogy. Before the announcement of “as if,” fans had begun hunting for hidden album information, leading them to find the lead single and album’s presaves. The presaves would then be discontinued for the rest of the rollout, although the remaining singles' covers would be leaked on Genius before their reveals.
“im nothing thats all i am” would follow three weeks later as the second single, although with a lyric video, leaving the last two music videos for the upcoming singles.
Throughout the album’s rollout, the fans would continue to search for information on the album, where they’d find its cover art, composers, and more being found early on DSPs. The leaks would lead glaive to an early announcement on his Twitter, confirming the mid-July release date.
Nearly two weeks after “im nothing thats all i am" was released, glaive would begin to hint at the third single, “all i do is try my best,” posting short snippets across his social media, later teasing its music video — the second of the trilogy.
Soon after the third single’s release, glaive would post three short snippets from the album, with the final being of the fourth and last single, “the car.” Prior to its announcement, the final single’s release date and track length would be found within Apple Music’s source code.
On July 8, glaive would finally, however informally, announce the album’s official tracklist a week before the release on his Instagram Story through a zoomed-in picture of a promotional poster for the album.
I recorded this album in a windowless garage in Los Angeles (a city I don’t particularly like) while simultaneously trying to decide who and what I wanted to be, and how I wanted to present that to other people. It’s a collection of feelings and thoughts that I had over the last three years. It sounds super cringe to say, but I suppose it is my life’s work, or at least it has been what I’ve spent my life working on, so far.

shit is out and im scared but it’s life. i’ve always been weirdly upset at myself and the things that i do and all of that but with this i’m weirdly quite proud. i’ve spent all my teenage years working towards this and i don’t know how to feel all i care about is music and all i’ve ever cared about is the music and i just want people to feel like im doing the best that i can because all i’m doing is the best that i can. i care so much that i don’t care at all is out forever and i hope if you hear it you like it and i hope if you like it you’ll understand why im so scared to be vulnerable. im really proud and really scared and really happy and that’s sort of newthank you if you listen and have a wonderful night baby (ps thank you to everyone who made it happen you are all doing gods work in my mind)

i just want to be enough for everybody and i want to meet everyone’s expectations of me, if that day is not today then that’s okay but one day. i am so scared for people to know what i’ve been thinking for the last 3 years but i suppose it was needed to be said. all the music means more to me than anyone or anything ever will and i hope it feels that way to anyone who hears. im frankly fucking terrified but nothing i can do to stop it now.
